Thought it only was their perogative during a Red warning?

Yellow means “take care if you work outside. It’s light enough that precautions can be made to let you work. If you work indoors, take care on journeys”

Orange means “potentially dangerous conditions. Look to the details of the warning, evaluate conditions in your local area & decide for yourself if activity can continue.”

Red means “stay at home, to go out is to endanger yourself, we warned you, we won’t be held liable”.

The squall line is causing the high winds here west of Galway. Should calm down a little when it passes.

Evelyn Cusack on SOR on RTE Radio 1 just now appealing to people to stop tweeting fake weather charts. She sounded quite pissed off about it too.

Stop posting FAKE WEATHER! says Evelyn Cusack.

Fake weather charts....she said. And she said she is astounded (at the fake weather charts)!

A fake weather chart is de-facto fake weather as it can influence decisions made by people. Still in this case it's lots of red so maybe not a bad thing, be worse if it was being downplayed rather than hyped up.

Who the hell would have guessed trampolines would have become a safety hazard for people not in that back garden? Sign of these decadent times.

Lots of standard blowy weather in Waterford at this point.

I hope they take you to the cleaners mate. It’s their perogative during an Orange. And the employment tribunal will see that.

It's a good thing there's not as many wasters as that guy. We all could pretend to stay at home because it's too dangerous.

Wind direction has just shifted from SE to SW and wind has picked up significantly at Mace Head

Brendan is a beast in west Mayo

worst iv seen in my lifetime.

    frightening.

Pity there are no webcams in Louisbourgh or Westport. This storm could be simliar to the one back in 1990 in terms of its duration

And comes out with drivel like "I had to go north"

A normal person would say, "I had to go out to the wheelie bin"

Direction gives a more accurate picture of how the winds might affect rather than saying going to a wheelie bin as that means nothing. Unless of course you’re traipsing down the hill after it, as my neighbour was earlier, gathering your scattered rubbish as you go.

    From AA Roadwatch
CORK: Emergency services are dealing with a fallen tree that’s blocked part of N72 between Fermoy and Tallow at Kilmagner.

Emergency services are en route to a fallen tree which is blocking two lanes on the South City Link Rd, heading towards the Kinsale Rd R/A.

Gardaí are dealing with a fallen tree on the N20 just outside Charleville on the Mallow side.

There’s a fallen tree in Mitchelstown near the junction of Upr Cork St and James St.

Reports of several trees down on local roads in the Bandon and Innishannon areas. Take care, especially on secondary routes.

Lots happening in Cork - city and county!

When did the weather forecast start having bearing on employment legislation?

That hail storm came though 30 mins ago, and it was bad, last 3 mins then nothing. We have had no wind to speak of for 20 mins now. ESB currently showing no faults, yet no power in Sneem.

Just started my 11 am break and it is not too bad down here in North Kerry. About 15 minutes ago there was a very wicked gust that lasted about 1 minute that looked like it would pull up a tree outside the window. That's it insofar.

    Dan.
