That was not very sobering news. Cracking open another can. But in a fooked up kind of way most of us, at least financially, will be in the same boat. Not all, but a lot. So I say lets cool our jets. I'm taking a cold shower.:D and realise that the money won't matter soon enough. The most important part is doing our bit to keeping the numbers down as much as possible. As for this thread (and I'm not a mod) I'd expect no arseholery, jokey or semi trolling posts that would upset anyone who suffers from anxiety or similar. Lets not scare off anyone and keep up the very varied theme of the thread alive and well.

    This situation is real.

AWARE have taken the difficult decision to close their support and self care groups nationwide.

For anyone seeking support, the phone lines and email support lines are open. Please bear with them as they are busy.

There are also tips from the HSE re coping with anxiety during these times:

Eddie Murphy was on Newstalk today and he said he'll be doing a live airing I think on Mondays, giving talks and tips to help ease people's anxiety and fears , for the foreseeable future. On Facebook , if it's of help to anyone.

That is truly wonderful. My daughter has autism, and at times for me it is chellenging,to see the world as she does. So I thank you for taking on tasks as that to educate the rest of us. Without ones like you, I'd be lost in helping her.

Couchside finally. Been ignoring the news by going for a long walk and then cooking/baking :)

Never saw so many people out walking, ha ha and all the poor doggies, little legs will be walked off them after a few more days.

I made loads of little dishes of scalloped potatoes (with cream, goats cheese, garlic and chives) and ginger cake and I'm about to have a slice of cake now with a wee glass of Baileys and pretend it's Christmas (because guess who forgot to buy wine and it's definitely not the night for gin).

I did the same, so I’ve decided to ban myself from that thread. Came here instead - shenanigans, eh? And someone was looking for a red head? I mean I’m self-isolating, but hey...

Sa leaba anois. Decided I couldn’t deal with reading anything sad/tense/post-apocalyptic, so I dug my Princess Diaries collection out of the attic earlier. So sappy, so overly dramatic - perfect!

Same fella is wearing my knickers on his head and wellies and nothing else over in the interview thread. He likes to put it about, that one.

Bedside earlier than normal with a bad headache - I felt it coming on all day it's like stress corona head :)

The news was sobering but at the same time I'm proud as punch of our country and I have no doubt everyone will make this situation work and we'll flatten that curve like a pancake - there will be tough months ahead being a carer for Mr P means I'm on tenterhooks trying to ensure he's well. Delighted some of our stores are having special opening hours for over 65's and family Carer's that really relieves a bit of worry and is practical. And the recruitment drive by the HSE is such a positive move.

Mostly I'm ignoring the hype. If I don't my head may explode \˚ㄥ˚\

Not long home from work, a hectic day but awe inspiring too.

I'm inspired. I've never seen my job rise to the fight like this. I've never seen the country united like this (Italia 90 aside).

We'll get through this, but each and ever one of us has their part to play. Every man, woman and child can do their bit.

    WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER.

Gonna chill with my Kindle in a few.

Again if you're hearing from a friend who has a cousin in the army who has a friend who had a one night stand with a guy who has an uncle in the army.. Ignore them, if you're concerned, please feel free to PM me.

On a complete c19 blackout myself today, finding it all a bit overwhelming and can’t do anything about it so have been getting on with distracting myself as best I can and feel the better for it.
Had to go out to shop as well. Apocalyptic scenes in Tesco, not a banana to be had. But there were loads in a SuperValu so go figure

There's loads you can do unknown to yourself.

If you follow HSE, Dept of Health & Government guidelines. If you're practicing social distancing, reminding friends, work mates and family to wash their hands then you're doing something about it.

Honestly and I can't stress this enough, the fight against the virus is for each and every man, woman and child in the country.

A complete C-19 blackout today whilst understandable helps no one. Getting away from social media is good, but this is a rapidly changing situation and its vital for us all to keep up to date with government & its agencies statements and advice to the public.

    We're all in this together.
