Well there has been talk about London and Tottenham stadium which is happening but yeah never expected an Irish date. Although it is the last date of the tour so maybe they decided to have a show as they left the continent.

All subjective I guess. I caught them that tour. Its the same gig since I rented the videos of Tokyo from extravision.

The sooner time travelling is invented and I can catch them in Hollywood back in the day, the better ha

    Anyone got a pre-sale code :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭grimm2005

Looks like tickets will be €99.50 for GA and looking at TM page there will be a gold circle, going to presume it'll be €150 or so, similar to Slane.

I would also gratefully take a presale code if anyone was feeling charitable

I saw them at Slane, they were brilliant. What's Marlay Park like as a venue?

Tickets can be bought on Ticketmaster now for €146, ticket + night train membership included

Yeah €373 for 2 tickets if you want to buy them now.

Axls voice is pretty fecked after going beast mode for the ACDC gigs and the 2016 NA leg, will still be a good show as Slash and crowd singing along is able to carry him. A new album or even a new song or two would be great but any chance of that is slim to none.

After The Point 2010, I wouldn't pish on AR if he was on fire, let alone fill his coffers. I'm aware other musicians are part of the band, but tough.

Maybe give this one a miss then. Not sure the band will care either way !!

Not their biggest fan, but the comeback has been the complete package. They're fun, loud and shockingly energised.

Since you've saved yourself the bother of going, you ought to rejoice and just let them at it for others who still enjoy them.

I hope the darkness. But there's also a lovely gap for system of a down in their tour.

GNR dont need the extra pull if a big band itll certainly me a smaller cheeper option.

It's harder to justify the 100 euro price tag on the second go round because its essentially the same thing just now the lads are 2 years older, which is another 2 years wear and tear on Axls already worn vocal cords.

This isn't the Axl of the 80s and 90s, hell it's a far cry from the reinvigorated, in shape Axl of 2006.

It's a nostalgia cash crab when it just doesn't have to be. Slash and Duff are machines and would easily churn out 10 songs in 6 months if Axl could be bothered to lay down some vocals which for some reason he hasn't be arsed to do since Chinese democracy a whole decade ago.

Biffy Clyro would be the dream for me (think the supported them in some of the European shows in 2017)

Lets hope not, a proper rock band would be more suitable as support.

Will deffo go to this. Reason being that GNR gigs have always alluded me. Just always seemed to have something on when they were around. Appetite still goes down as one of my favourite albums and there are bout 15 great tracks between the 2 Illusions.

Funny how these comeback gigs go. I remember the Stone Roses comeback in Phoenix Park, but so exciting and energetic. But when they played in Marlay a year or 2 later, it was a bit of a damp squid. Like someone else here said, I think the crowd, the quality of the songs and Slash will keep the gig on a positive note.
And Axl's vocals will be a small point. Can't be any worse that Ian Brown's that night in Marley anyway.

What does a damp squid mean? Surely a damp squid is a happy squid, not as happy as a moist squid and no way happier than a wet squid but damp is kinda good when it comes to marine creatures?

Anyone know what the capacity is for a Marlay Park gig? Reckon tickets will be available for a while? This is just the worst timing, I won't have a bean next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,455 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Saw them in London in 2017 great show but by god London Stadium is massive

Possibly wont make this due to having 2 concerts the week after with only a day gap. Hotels in dublin are way to expensive esp with the soccer been on around this time

This will get a lot of the same custom as the HELLAMEGA tour which is on 2 days after this

Marley Park is an awful venue. 1 hour queue to buy beer at the Stone Roses and impossible to get a taxi unless you leave early.

Once I saw the post on the 2020 Gigs thread I checked out the website. Signed up for the membership at $40, then got myself 2 tickets at 3pm. To be honest I was surprised the tickets were "only" €100 plus the TM fees, especially for a smaller venue like Marlay Park.

Saw Axel in RDS in 2006 and I thought he was brilliant. Was at the sh!tshow that was the Point in 2010. Missed them at Slane last year.

I'm a massive fan. Maybe we'll have some new music before then which would be great.

    Can't wait for this one!

Think it’s about 30,000, I like the venue but I’d say it’s tough enough to get back to the city. Although the luas is walking distance if you know where to go.

Was there for Stone Roses, yeah it's a bit of a pain getting back to town but at least it's not Slane.

I dunno, wouldn't want Biffy upstaging the main act which they'd be more than capable of doing

Slane is just painful. At this stage it would take led zeppelin to get me back there. I live walking distance from Marley, for the stone roses we had a bbq and strolled down.

I think they can ramp up the capacity if they need to, plenty of space.

All the other euro venues are between 55 - 70k capacity.
