Just rang as contract up on 4 mobile numbers today - best I could get was €15 plus vat which is €18.45 each so I’m more than happy

€25.00 less €10.00 discount plus vat a month for next 12 months.

Terms & Conditions below Copy & Pasted from contract:

The increase of CPI* +3% on your monthly recurring charge in April each year. For Example if CPI is 5% + 3% = a 8% increase will apply in April Y1. And increases under this contract by an additional amount of annual CPI as published every January +3% effective from your bill from April every year thereafter.
    Minimum annual increase 3%
Customers signing up to the Agreement on or after 1 March of a given year shall not be subject to the price increase that applies in April of that year.

.* CPI is the Consumer Price Index based on Central Statistics Office (CSO) published annual CPI rate reflecting the index movement over the prior 12 months, published in January of each year at https://www.cso.ie/en/

Note: if your price plan is discounted, the annual price increase will be applied to the discounted rate only as long as the discounted rate applies and the annual price increase will apply to standard monthly recurring charge thereafter.

Do you have to wait til contract expires to contact them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,663 ✭✭✭amber2

I rang them a month before and they told me to call back in the days leading up to the expiry date. €15 plus vat is the best I could get, working out at €19.26.

They sent an email to me 3 months before expiry of one of my numbers…. I'll see if they agree something with me this soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 997 ✭✭✭feargantae

It should be €18.45 Inc VAT. Is €19.26 with the CPI+3% increase?

4 numbers on my account. Contract up yesterday. Did the online messaging thingy. They offered me €20 plus vat each which I refused then got the 15 plus vat deal same as I had last 12 months.

Guys why do you pay 3 at least €15 a month plus vat and increases when you could get the exact same service from 48 for €12.99 a month including vat with no increases and fixed for life?

MOD: No referrals here. Use the referrals thread.

Yeah that’s mostly true but there is no WiFi Calling or VoLTE on 48 unfortunately. There’s also no eSIM support.

The no VoLTE is annoying as mobile data is non existent if you are on a call and not connected to WiFi.

Had a couple of nightmares abroad with 48 4/5 years ago, would never touch them again.

Roaming with 48 is a nightmare/non existent in my experience so worth keeping that in mind.

I’m on iPhone and It’s been perfect for me lately with the newer SIM improvements, it’s been switching automatically for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 918 ✭✭✭PeterDuggan

Yes roaming was a problem 4-5 years ago but they seem to have sorted it out now.

I was roaming this year and had issues, this was Asia however, not Europe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭NotShero

Yeah roaming is not supported in Asia at all with 48 afaik. You would have to have credit for places that are supported outside the EU also as it wouldn’t be included in your membership.

I was onto Three customer care online, and they offered the bill pay 35 euro per month contract, for 25 euro.

I think if I switch to this I can get a new phone, free! (Google Pixel 9a looks good apparently)

    Any thoughts/experiences?

That’s a SIM only plan afaik and at €25pm you could just go with the prepay plan - Three Connect Complete instead.

The cheapest plan with the free phones is €40pm for 24 months but this plan only has 200mins/texts. The more unlimited plan is €65pm for 24 months.

Can you get onto chat via their website or does it have to be via the app?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭NotShero

You should be able to Live Chat with the below link. Make sure to accept all cookies if nothing is showing, it’s at the very bottom of the page in small print “Cookie Settings” -

Thanks. Got €15pm for 12 months term with increase of €2.50 in April 2026

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 10,154 ✭✭✭✭mik_da_man

Has anyone got the 15pm deal recently?

I didn't realise I was out of contract until a bigger bill arrived today, talked to someone on the phone and was only offered a 5E discount.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭NotShero

If you can’t get a new deal, there’s loads of options to switch to -

    48 (Three) - €12.99pm

    Clear Mobile (Vodafone) - €12.99pm

    GoMo (Eir) - €14.99pm

Sky Mobile (Vodafone) - €12.99pm (12 month contract)

    Tesco Mobile (Three) - €15pm

I am in the same boat, out of contract since March and didn't notice the price increase, €64.21 for 2 numbers.

I can see it in the small print now, but this wasn't explained to me at the time, only the 3% annual increase

I rang today to try and get the original deal of €15 plus vat, no joy

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 10,154 ✭✭✭✭mik_da_man

    Thanks for the information.

Unfortunately where I live I can only use 3, and I've had issues with roaming in 48 (travel globally for work)

Any idea what Tesco are like for roaming?

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 10,154 ✭✭✭✭mik_da_man

They told me now that if I move an additional number to Three (have 2 already) then they can do the 15pm for all of them.

I’m not sure about the roaming experience on Tesco Mobile. I did not have any issue myself on 48 since the new SIM card was released in Jan 2023, it was automatically switching for me on an iPhone.

As far as needing a Three MVNO, you have the options of 48, Tesco Mobile, Lyca Mobile and Virgin Media.

You could use WiFi Calling with the others, if you have bad signal at home on the Eir & Vodafone networks.
