Not officially confirmed yet but apparently Netflix are going to do a Fear Street TV series off the back of the film trilogy success last summer.

I really enjoyed the films, I was surprised by how much fun they were. They weren't perfect by any means but I definitely would watch more from that world. The article suggests the writer/director from the films will be involved and that the story may focus on one of the killers from the films, which is a pretty good idea if they want to do more than one season, there were quite a few of them involved in the curse.

I thought part of the appeal of the Fear Street Trilogy was it's unique release schedule so I'm a bit surprised they are abandoning the feature film format and opting for a TV series instead.

Watched Hustle. Its good. Solid performance from Sandler. The story has been done better before imo but its worth a watch.

Netflix bought it when it was already made, it was supposed to get monthly (I think?) cinema releases, so that wasn't really their own idea. I can see the appeal of a TV show. It kind of taps into the Stranger Things market, I guess, and from the films alone there's potential for like 4 or 5 seasons if they just do one for each murderer.

Yeah, while it wasn't their initial idea I thought it played a large part in it standing out from the crowd in recent years. Thinking about it more and that may be just my perspective and others were drawn to it for other reasons and would welcome multiple 10 episode series'.

Yeah, I loved the new film every week release, but I wonder if it would work again, or was the novelty of it part of the appeal? Either way, I'm interested in seeing more from the world, assuming it is the same creative people involved.

They covered at least 3 of the killers in the movies. Looking at the list of killers, maybe Ruby Lane or The Milkman?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,926 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

Did they do their whole story though? I can't remember. The article seems to be speculating that it's about one of them, the guy in the 20s who killed his family with a baseball bat. So I was just running with that idea. There's a series of books though, I think, so it could be an entirely new story, I don't know. I have no idea how close to any of the books the films were either, maybe they're just using the name.

I thought it was actually really good. Not annoying at all, for a Sandler movie.

Haven't watched any of his Netflix films but seems it's the serious ones that get the praise. How many films does he have left as part of his deal?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,353 ✭✭✭S.M.B.

It's not clear how many are left. They keep extending the deal by a further 4 movies every few years. It looks like there are 3 more currently in production at the moment.

i watched the first fear street a good while back, and half forget the story. Is that a problem starting straight into the second film ?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,926 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

They're all connected but the first one is in the 90s, the second one is in the 70s mostly, but opens and closes with the 90s characters. But you'd probably be OK just going straight into 2, I think.

Just watched this myself. Had to rewind that ending and watch again. Really great. Im a fan of all things 80s anyway but this was the first time in a long time Ive been on the edge of my seat watching a tv show. The song fits it perfectly and the build up was well paced also.

They're best viewed as a trilogy - you can sort of get away with jumping into the second film without rewatching the first, but your enjoyment of the third film will be significantly diminished IMO if you don't have both previous films fairly fresh in your mind.

I've seen people saw that the trailer for Stranger Things part 2 possibly has a massive spoiler in it, so I'm avoiding it, will go in blind.

I finished part 1 last night and it ran straight into that teaser above. By the time I knew what I was watching it was over.

Also, in semi Netflix related news. Bo Burnham has released a full hour of additional footage called The Inside Outtakes on his YouTube. Well worth a watch if you enjoyed Inside.

    Keep Sweet Pray and Obey..

Madness to think this still goes on in the world

I found this to be really poor. Jimmy Carr who is one of my fav comedians was just really off. I think I enjoyed one of the stand up. It was a double act. The rest was just unfunny for me. Ofc somebody else may love it

Watched Hustle with Adam Sandler last night. Of course it's a story we have seen before, but it's very well made with good performances. If you are a fan of the NBA there are loads of cameos, which I enjoyed too !!

Two Summers is very very good. Great cast and a short enough series to have no "filler" episodes.

Back story is subtly revealed bit by bit and we slowly get to know each character.

Warning! The sexual assault scene and flashbacks are quite disturbing (but necessary for the story).
