It's depressing the way people make a deal out of this silly stuff from 18 years ago and keep their eye off the ball about what he, or the people spinning this who need a distraction, are doing today.

Follow those government contracts, who is giving them and who is receiving them.

Actually, most of what passes as political debate nowadays is this sort of vacuous nonsense, and the bigger and long verified picture of a rich elite - none of whom are on websites like this (as people on €100k or €500k here like to think they're part of a "rich elite") - getting richer than ever is overlooked while the plebs get distracted by this sort of stuff and all the other low-hanging fruit of political targets. Likewise, Trump should be opposed because he's a profoundly corrupt and egregiously unethical person to hold public office - not because he sleeps with prostitutes or whatever his latest stupid tweet is.

You realise, that by European standards, Trudeau is right of the British conservative party?

He's about as liberal as Michael McDowell.

He's also an absolute bell end.

People kind sounds pretty woke to me. Is Michael McDowell renowned for being pronoun savvy and generally woke?

Threads, indeed, which that user posts in all the time, as I pointed out.
You are, in fact, complaining about those threads, which you take part in, bemoaning fascist leftist libruls

This is absurd. I chastise a user for complaining about threads, given that they themselves partake in the very threads they alluded to, and the response is to accuse me of complaining about those threads?? Haha.

Nope, I quite like those threads in fact, and all the 'lefty/righty' s***e' stuff within them too, as I feel it exposes Boards' lefties and brings them out into the light and that's all good with me. I like seeing them make fools of themselves on the regular.

I like those threads too though for making fools of people who banter on about the fascist liberal left or whatever.

The view from within Canada is that hypocrisy is the main element of this growing scandal (now three separate pictures or videos have emerged). The Liberal Party without Justin Trudeau was centrist (some might say centre-left) and with a long-standing identification as champion of ethnic communities and anti-discrimination. With Justin Trudeau, it was a case of doubling down on all that and making numerous largely unfounded accusations of terrible discriminatory attitudes among his political opponents. Now all this comes out and the man looks like a complete hypocrite. Commentators have asked, if this were any other leader, or one of your own MPs running for election, what would you say to them? Of course it would be resign. But there is no sign of this man resigning (yet), however, I think the pressure will grow from within his own party as well as in other places.

You can also draw the conclusion that Canada does not walk the walk, only talks the talk in certain areas. I have observed this for many years and felt nauseated from time to time by sanctimonious declarations of Canada being some light to the nations and the best country on earth, which I suppose is not unique to Canada. Part of the reason for that is the challenge of living next door to the most powerful nation on earth (and now being a major trading partner of the second most powerful nation, China). There has been an inferiority complex due to the overflowing American (and European perhaps) culture overwhelming what is generally acknowledged to be a sort of delicate hothouse entity, Canadian culture (best not to know about it). But part of the pushback on that is to develop this chest-thumping Canadian nationalism for which the Liberal Party is the main engine.

The recent success of Stephen Harper as a Conservative leader was basically to take the Liberal template and turn it from red to blue, a sort of right wing Liberal nationalist politics. That only lasted until the Son of Trudeau appeared (some say son of Castro but that's a whole other kettle of fish). Harper was dispatched to the political wilderness so we could bask in the sunny ways of the Boy Emperor. It has been a rather rough ride even before this mess. There has been a major scandal about favours shown to Quebec business "SNC Lavalin" by the PM and his powerful advisors, over-ruling the Justice Minister in an important court case, causing her to resign and leave the party. And she's a native Canadian so here again, the hypocrisy aspect, the so-called feminist non-racialist PM showing no respect to a woman of that background.

If the government wins this election now, I would be very surprised but we have a wide array of alternatives on both left and right including a new right-wing populist alternative to the centre-right Conservatives, two strong leftist parties, even a separatist party in Quebec that will draw in more votes now, so vote totals in some ridings could be split five or six ways. Three former Liberals who resigned over the SNC Lavalin business are also running as independents and each could win a seat. As we still have the "first past the post" and no shred of proportional voting here, quite possible that in some ridings a person could win with 25 to 30 per cent of the vote (which is in October).

Personally, I think Justin Trudeau has no option but to resign. This is not just a "boys acting badly" tempest in a teapot. This is full-scale do what I say, not what I do, and now that you know, bend over and take some more of it, and I can't see how the Liberal Party survives this. The good outcome is that Canadians who supported that smug attitude about the shining city on a hill will perhaps see that the world is not quite as impressed as they are. Don't take it out on all of us, they had their own political party so we have always walked separate paths. (I am a libertarian, another party we have but not one that has ever elected MPs).

Also whatever about Megyn Kelly: she's an employee of a private company, not a government head. People cede too much 'authority' over to talking heads.

I don’t see you much on boards but when I do you are the smart well clued in guy at the huge boards moment.

They called me the weather man during the huge snow thing we had last year because I regurgitated your stuff and predicted they would have to close the job for a few days.

    A true boards legend.

Let me refresh you on how the discussion played out, as you appear not to have a clue:

So, you see, quite clear they were talking about Boards / the Current Affairs forum and not any other website. It's also quite clear which threads the user was alluding to. Maybe in future familiarise yourself with a discussion before jumping in with both feet and calling someone a liar.

Okay, so let me understand this from a far right point of view.

    Blackface is fine, no problem.

Unless you're a so called "leftist or liberal". I don't get it???

He needs to resign. He just looks like a complete hyocritical muppet. He is also going to do a lot of damage in any upcoming election. Also once us maybe forgivable but three times. No.

My guess would be that he's in more trouble for saying he only did it once, more than him having actually done it at all, as he comes across as if he was betting on them not finding out about the instances, rather than him having genuinely forgotten about them.

She loves the notion of "people" as an idealised mass but has little time for the reality of that.

the culturally appropriated karma is delish!

“I appreciate you calling it makeup, but it was blackface.” - Justin Trudeau

When a progressive has to let the media know they’re carrying a little too much water for him it is evident the media’s bias is pretty damn pathetic.

I give Trudeau some credit for this.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!
