Would you care to explain how? In something other than a soundbite?

    [...]

    Us!?
The small private landlords, the ones struggling to ensure our bills are paid, our property maintained and our tenants happy...

We clearly are the problem ;)
Wow, the sneering. The rudeness. Where is Raconteuse to defend the tone of the discussion, you're not being civil.

P Flynn was complaining about the costs of living a lavish lifestyle, a bit like yourself there when you're moaning in that novel about how much effort it takes to own multiple properties (or "appreciating assets") or how much of an inconvenience it is to pay tax on your earnings.

As for your sob story about growing up on a council estate: save it. As far as I'm concerned, that makes you a class traitor.

Your comprehension skills aren't great are they?
If you feel there's anything at all uncivil towards you in my comment, report it?
Please, or point out my rudeness and I will endeavour to apologize.
None was implied, if you however inferred it?
That's an error on your part.
And there's no sob story, just a recounting of my experience.

As for your "class traitor" comment...
I wasn't all that far off in my prediction a couple of posts previously was I?

I would be far from surprised to hear that poster screaming for class warfare and the subsuming of all private property soon enough ;)

But I suppose class is what you make it, and of it...
I've never let someone's origin define them for me.
    Unlike you, comrade.

LGBTQxyz.. I couldn't give a crap if you're gay or if someone wants to identify as a man, woman or a unicorn, but I'd draw the line at a man identifying as a woman to use a female change room.. If that man follows my daughter into a changing room I'm identifying as the tooth fairy and kicking out all his teeth :)

    Soccer & Golf, I simply don't care.

Love the contrast of those two messages.

What does "Woke" do to help poor people or dismantle capitalism (which he enjoys himself, living in the West)?

Post spiteful comments to the internet and make himself out to be better than everyone else (because THAT kind of snobbery is fine).

Climate change, or climate crisis as it's now called.

The Earth has been heating and cooling for millions of not billions of years with and without human intervention.

    Let it

Let species adapt as they have done for millions if not billions of years.

We are humans are really arrogant if we think we can stop it or if we believe it's up to us to dictate what the world should look like inn the future.

The world will look like what it looks like.

The rate of change currently being observed is outside any norm except for what were catastrophic events.

    Please no one take this the wrong way as i enjoy posting/reading here however;

Could not be bothered getting so bogged down in an argument with someone that I'd start multi quoting. Like in fairness when do you ever see someone saying "hmm, I see your point. I've changed my POV."

First they came for the socialists...

First of all you're assuming I don't have a private life away from here. I don't have to show you any of my credentials but I can assure you I am very much involved in volunteering and helping out in my local community. You should turn the computer off and give it a go as well instead of sneering at myself.

And as for the living in the West comment: I'm Irish. I was born here, I was raised here. I live here and I've raised two children to adulthood here. There are flaws "in the West" that I feel need to be commented on while living here. Whether it be property hoarding, cryptocurrencies, the infantilisation of grown men or whatever it is. That's not a hypocritical stance.

For people who don't bother voting in general elections or other elections or any referendum for that matter.
They spout this fact from the seat of their barstool.

Social media - Just a massive waste of time

Driving - If you live in the city its riddiculously expensive, definitely not worth it

PC's or Mac's - no need for them anymore

Playing online - Single player games are way better

Reality TV and anything on RTE

Getting a free mobile upgrade - So many eejits fall for this and pay triple the price

The so called great works or literature and Poetry

    Brexit, Trump & Golf

Expensive Food, clothes & alcohol - It never feels worth the extra €'s

Going to gigs - the music doesnt actually sound better than at home

For bored students at a loose end after their end of all their academic year exams who register on boards to

Spam, spam, troll, and then re reg after their first boards account is banned.

Also students who register on boards to defend the class in their school which has been criticised in the local media.

Bunch of toerags and nothing more.

As someone who knows Makikomi in real life, I can confirm that Woke Hogan is wrong.

Makikomi is a gent, unless you are an asshat....then he will tell you are an asshat.

He said he thinks vegans are utter cretins and scum of the earth or something along those lines in one post. Sounds like a tolerant stand up guy. Or a typical pig headed bouncer scumbag.

If you are going to accuse someone of saying the above, in fairness you should provide the evidence. Otherwise it's a baseless derogatory claim tbh.

Exactly, when I read the 'or something along those lines' I was shaking my head.

As for my "shtick," it's called holding positions and convictions, a belief system. I'm under no obligation to pretend "both sides are bad" nor do I have to conform to whatever your idea of civility is. Neoliberalism, capitalism, globalisation are killing the planet and landlords hoarding property is a symptom of that.

    Thats adorable!

My point is more the nonsense spoken in the media and by opposition politicians about the housing 'crisis'. So much of it is complete rubbish and they love labelling anything and everything as a bloody crisis, here a crisis, there a crisis, everywhere a crisis crisis.

Ps, I do have a nice secure job and a very reasonable tenancy also :-)

    How about you?

My brother, his wife and their kid were made homeless three months ago when the shíthole they were living in was condemned.
I had to move home a couple of years ago and have not been able to get out since.

All of us work full time.

So I'm sure you can sleep soundly at night, knowing there is no housing crisis in Ireland and all is right with the world.

    You can go and swing.

bad news stories on the news, I have enough going on without worrying about bad news like that. "wasn't it awful about that house burning down and the family all killed?" yes but why do I need to know about it? people will say it is awful and it is but if they don't know them, it doesn't effect them in the slightest really.
