You are fanboy of some English soccer team.

Go back to your couch. Your only interest in GAA is obviously hatred of Dublin.

I wasn’t aware that I’m not allowed to post on a forum if I’m not consistently posting on a topic. Is that in the charter? But thank you for going through my recent posts. Again, yet another personal attack from a Dublin fan instead of responding to the points I’ve previously raised. Proves my point.

So which is it, fans stopped going to games when we weren't winning anything or fans stopped going to games because we are winning so much. Both of these said ad nauseam on this thread.

Its both. Good competition brings in a crowd, not one team that is miles ahead of everyone or a team that get hockied by everyone. For the same reason tyson furys last fight was half empty - the result was never in doubt so nobody went.

But 500k seems excessive.... I wonder did they fly up to some matches ? Or did they play in New York ?

I mean this is an irrelevant point in this thread, but if 500k is excessive for Galway 320k must be excessive for Dublin? Sure they very rarely travel and have very little accommodation requirements presumably.

Both the drawn game and yesterday were sold out at Croke park

The DUB-MAYO semi was not at capactity but I seem to remember a lot of mayo supporters leaving shortly after half time for some reason

Have you got a link to this? Not saying your wrong but it's just interesting. Why would end of year reports have these expenses listed if they were getting the money back. Only reason I ask is both our minors (Galway) wanted to stay in Dublin the night of their All Ireland's and both were refused due to cost. If it was getting refunded its mean thing to do to a bunch of kids.

I copied this from the official GAA site earlier in thread.
    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=110963831&postcount=384

I am afraid it didnt go into further details.

If a team has to travel further than 130kms they are entitled to an overnight.
    But I presume only one.

It is possible they are listed as outgoings on balance sheet with a later reimbursement. But there should definitely be an incoming amount from HQ for matchday expenses.

Ps if you take my text in italics and put it in double quotes in google it should find the page on GAA site. I am on mobile or I would do so myself.

    Worth a re-mention.

All match expenses such as travel and accomodation are reimbursed by GAA for All Ireland series games.
No county should be out of pocket for them.

It was mentioned on a local paper somewhere that each training session for a senior county team in the midlands could be over €7000.

Another layer added to the dominance today. The ladies have now done 3 in a row and who will stop them over the next 5 years?

Nobody in Leinster - since Meath lost the final today, Dublin are the only senior team left in the Leinster ladies championship, can’t remember who got relegated this year but it was a Leinster team

Cork will have a new manager - could be interesting, two goals were the difference g Dublin and Cork didn’t play well. Galways first final in a while will stand to them, Mayo lost to Galway by a point and it’s their first year post politics

Westmeath. The ladies senior championship is a joke as well. Cork have won 11 of the last 15 senior titles. At least the LGFA has intermediate and junior competitions for teams who can't compete at senior level.

To be fair, there was 10 years of work with the underage before those titles - Cork were completely dominant in nearly every age group for a few years and that fed through. Tipp went up two years ago, down last year and now back up to senior. It will be interesting to see what Leinster do now

Yes, very true, and teams travelling to New York and London get fully refunded as well. One poster on here tried to claim that Mayo's expenses were so high because of those trips. Then again, there were claims that Aslan were responsible for Dublin's success.

Then how come the attendance on the big screen that day said "Full House".

I was high up in the Hogan and honestly didnt see anyone leaving early.

I'm sure plenty is covered but I'd imagine there is still an expense to bringing a team out to New York whether it be hidden costs or management still doing right by players.

Cork is a massive county, so quite possible they have lots of small clubs around the county that can barely field a team.

Dublin have some clubs with hundred of lads.

Yes small clubs that end up running fundraisers to improve facilities unlike the rich Dublin clubs

Hardly the fault of the GAA.

200 small clubs means 200 pitches, means 200 lawnmowers etc. etc.

Economy of scale works at every level.

Dublin players charge zero. Every year it’s been won they bring Sam to the local pubs, schools, clubs, hospitals, their own petrol, time and goodwill. Those guys don’t live in the clouds they are very much normal, ordinary, working people, studying, full time jobs or even both in some cases and they are still dedicated in their spare time to giving thanks and giving back to the supporters of them and the game in the county, to suggest otherwise is just ignorant of the facts...you can google it from previous wins and it’s plain to see they go everywhere with Sam.

I didnt realise that they were only small clubs outside Dublin.

Yeah that's just it, Dublin clubs are rolling in money while small clubs all over the country are struggling to survive. The game is in a great state

In 2018, the GAA gave out approx €41m. €1.9m went to Dublin and the rest
    to the other counties.....

They question you should be asking is how much did your county get and what was it used for ?

Since when have they had 1/16 th of the population?

Which doesn't even take into account that Gaelic Games are way more popular in Cork than the Pale

The financial and population "doping" advantage that Dublin have is just too extreme. The definition of "Dublin" used by the GAA is out of date and now encompasses three counties "Dublin" "Fingal" and "Dunlaoire-Rathdown". What we effectively have is a hybrid team made up of the players and resources from three counties. Are they unbeatable? Not quite. Very nearly but not quite. Dublin have won seven of the last 9 and are only getting stronger. I'd say 9 out of the next 11 would be a poor return for the financial and population advantage they have. That would make it 16 out of 20 and would be a death knell for Gaelic Football I think this is an example of financial and population mismatch that will be studied for decades to come around the world.

However the GAA have a number of serious problems splitting this Hybrid team into three counties. Everything from where will they play their home games to what happens to clubs who straddle two of these counties. Fans will not have the same connection to the new teams and crowds will drop off making the package less attractive to sponsors etc. It's an organisational and PR nightmare.

And of course filling Croke Park would become almost impossible. Outside of the All Ireland finals the only way the GAA can get enough people into Croke Park to make it financially viable to open the gates is by holding double headers with 4 teams. Dublin allows that match to be a single header as they effectively make up three of the four counties required for a double header. If they split Dublin then there is a very real risk that the stadium will only be full twice a year. Then they will have to open it to more concerts and other sports but even then you are talking about events of a scale of a U2 concert or a European Final in soccer or Rugby to fill the place.

So what's the alternative. Allow other Hybrid teams from outside Dublin? Perhaps Cork and Kerry. Or Galway and Mayo. But once you start to combine we quickly end up with only 6 or 7 viable combinations and what's the point in a championship that small. Plus putting teams that are strong in Football mightn't give any benefit in Hurling. A Clare Tipperary Waterford Hybrid might kick ass in Hurling but might as well not bother turning up in the Hybrid Football championship. And geographically it's a nightmare.

So very quickly we are left with just one alternative for the administrators in Croke Park. Leave it as it is, serve out their terms and by the time the football championship dies because Dublin have won 16 out of 20 it will be someone else's problem. The future is very bleak for Gaelic Football.

Generally pathetic. No fee at the gate if played in public parks. Thats why championship games are played at O Toole Park or Parnell Park. I've seen Dublin Junior County finals where there are 150 people at. In Monaghan, Armagh there could be 2000.

In the Dublin clubs most people follow the team their kids play in and dont bother their hole with any other team.

Sounds ****e tbh. Then you have the super clubs with about 7 adult mens teams. Ridiculous stuff.
