I've never driven the 06 up model, would look heavier and floaty compared to the older more liked ones

That e39 has been posted many times before. Yeah it's a lovely wagon but it's absolute basic spec for a 5 series, the worst colour, cloth seats and wood trim combo, tiny wheels, SE model... But it's a wagon so it's rare... I dunno.

I think the value in that car is how clean it looks.
Poor spec and small wheels shouldn't bother you at that price point. It's a lot of car for cheap, once the basics are all working ok.
If you have to start pouring money into it - na.

    Kind of type r replica?

I always heard nice words about that 1.8 vtec engine on high revs & good fuel consumption

Pretty much yeah! Shame it doesn't have the red type R seats.

A type R also has a gauge/speedo which is lit red and red interior carpet.

Type R also has a slightly nicer body kit also. Overall though it's a very nice car..

Yeah. Kinda. It was a Type S to start with, so they’ve painted it white, changed the wheels, front grille, front badge, rear centre light (big money) and colour coded the skirts/wheel arches. They never changed the rear indicators though which is a shame.

The quality of the respray mightn’t be great though. That’s the real possible dealbreaker.

earlier type R was fab, the ones since are tanks

Yep the ep3 was good but the best combo would be a UKDM K20(95 RON) and JDM gearbox(for the LSD)in a ek9.

This isn't mine but having previously owned a similar model in the past, have a soft spot for these. As ugly as that back end is it still appeals to me.

Looks nice and like yourself I have a soft spot for them. It looks like he had it up originally for €2,494 as per the text in the ad and then had it on at €2,195 as per previous Donedeal price. Even at the current €1,995 asking I think he will be playing the long game though. There will be a limited enough market for them given the conceived high motor tax and its age may make it a "difficult" to insure prospect for many.

However if it is right for you that €650 spent on recent service mentioned should take the edge of the high asking price, looks fit and mileage on the low side for the year. Original Irish car too it appears.

I think he's going to be looking at it for a long time as you say, the auto box would put a lot of people off too I'd say it's thirsty enough. It's really a 1400-1500 car.

Volvo V50 in the right trim (R-design), colour and engine (2.0 diesel) and on the chape tax as well
NCT 02/22 (was tested on Saturday looking at the disc) taxed to 04/21 as well.
Asking 2.5k, sure there's swinging room on that (says they're emigrating)

    This is lovely.
B6 Avant PD 130. Probably a bit pricey but asking price is only ever a guide.

How bloody nice are wagons lads? Last two cars you wouldn't even have a second look at only for the fact they're wagons. Far nicer in that guise than saloon imo.

BMW, Audi, Volvo always look nicer in wagons than saloons. Rare here compared to saloons though.

This meets the basic criteria of being a car insofar as it has an engine, four wheels and some seats.

It also has a years NCT and tax up to end of May 21. And brand new tyres as well (!)

€1350, and surely haggling room as I can't imagine his phone is hopping with people looking for it.

550 more expensive than the accord before haggling 7 years newer almost half the tax... I know which car I'd rather be driving:D

    Ummm,

My recollection of the Honda is that its a much bigger yoke than that V50

It is. It would be better matched against the V70 for size comparison.

Aside from it being a half arsed ad, opinions on this

Not in the bangernomics price range but maybe some wiggle room

I have a huge fear of dieselgate era 1.6 TDIs and their appetite for expensive EGR valves.

    195k miles...

It's not like they're scarce. I'd hold out for something with lower miles. Think when you're selling it, literally nobody will buy it with 220/230 miles on it.

Not an engine for bangernomics imho. Some very costly problems could be lurking.
