Why? If the performance figures are to be believed the non XT is going head to head with the $900+ 5070ti and the XT going head to head with the I think $1250+ 5080 … and I don't even think you can buy those nvidia cards at those "new post-tariff MSRP" inflated prices!

$750/$550 post-tariff actual in stock on the shelf prices could go down very well as a big middle finger to nvidia as the way things have gone the 5070 might not be under $700!

So if all goes well today and the pricing is right, which it looks like it might be after the china launch, what would be the best place to try buy one on launch day?

I know some places don't ship here and I have a mailbox account setup, but have never used it. How much do they charge for shipping?

Caseking, Computeruniverse and Hagglezon (price comparison site for all the EU amazon sites) in no particular order.

Haven't been this interested in a launch in years. Proper Drama.

Looks like a home run for AMD, my missus will definitely allow that.

9070 should be more than just $50 less than the XT, nobody will buy it

Think I'll be going for the 9070XT once we're not completely ripped off in Europe

Entirely the point. AMD will clear all 7x00 stock over the next few months and then cut the price of the 9070 to 499. I still think that's unwise but time will tell.

As gamers nexus said 2 days ago, you need customers more than margin. They should have cut harder than this, although it's still lower than I thought they would go.

If I can buy a 9070XT for <€800 (which is a big if) then I'm sold. Solid upgrade to the 6900XT with big gains at 4k, ray tracing, better upscaler and similar power consumption. If the 5070 ti was available closer to MSRP I'd consider it.

The 9070 is a binned part which explains the disappointing launch pricing, but it could be great later in is lifecycle when the price drops.

I have until Monday to decide whether to return my 7900xtx (970euo) and try for a 9070xt 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,547 ✭✭✭xtal191

If it was me I'd return it and hope for a 9070xt at €800 or less

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

Yeah I've decided to return it, worst case I save 100 euro, best case I save 250. This is all assuming performance will be similar, stock will be available and EU pricing won't be stupid

Reckon I've got a reason to upgrade from an RTX 3080 now If I can get a 9070 XT for 800.

At launch of the 6xxx series from AMD and 30 series fome Nvidia I wanted a 6800 XT but couldn't get one, managed to snag a 3080 FE from Scan at msrp so took it but the 10GB VRAM is starting to hurt performance now.

Where would be the best place to get an MSRP card? I see overclockers are offering Irish delivery for £20 and scan for £14. Obviously amazon would be ideal, but I don't know if they'll have any on sale at launch.

If my calculations are correct $599 should translate to £579 / €699? Optimistic to expect to snag a card at that price in the current market, but a man can dream!

You forgot vat. Us pricing does not include vat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,023 ✭✭✭Simi

I did not. $599 + 20% vat is £579/€699 rounded up, or +23% vat €709 for Ireland. Realistically I'll probably have to buy from the UK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,510 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Including Irish Vat brings it to $737. They don't carry across US pricing to Europe on a 1:1 basis so it'll be much closer to €800 than €709.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

So your thinking 800 for base models? 7900xt/xtx where all close to the $ MSRP in EU

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,510 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

No I think MSRP in Europe will be higher.

US will be $549 and $599. They'll probably be €699/729 and €779/799 here as MSRP direct from AMD including Irish Vat.

Is hard return a graphic card back to Amazon.co.uk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,560 ✭✭✭SickBoy

The US pricing is also probably taking into account the Trump tariffs which do not apply in the EU, right?

So should still be around the 1:1 ratio $:£

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 815 ✭✭✭minitrue

The tariff situation is likely unpossible to work out with no commentary coming from the manufacturers (that I've seen). You would think cards from China have at least 20% on them now but what of cards manufactured elsewhere? I'm fairly sure at least one of the AIBs got things going outside China. But then of course the chips are made in Taiwan and good luck working out if the One China policy means they are therefore all hit with tariffs or not!

You would think nvidia in particular would be shouting from the rooftops that X% of the price in the USA is tariffs to try to help reduce the heat on them over the prices people have to pay in the USA if they were all subject to a 20% import tariff by now (only 10% of that of course is new since the MSRPs for the 50 series were announced though it feels like those MRSPs ignored any tariffs).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,610 ✭✭✭Slutmonkey57b

Nvidia don't care about price complaints and they don't care if gamers are happy.

AI is the sales volume and value for them, and Gamers proved during the mining boom that they can be duped into spending whatever is asked if you keep supply short. It makes literally no difference to them if gamers are unhappy

That would be amazing but I can't see them being that cheap. I reckon €700-800 ($599 + 20% vat + mark-up) for the cheapest 9070 XT is probably the best case scenario for Europe.

But until prices are officially announced 🤷. I don't think AMD will be selling any cards directly this time so retailers will also take their cut.
