It's possible it could be drivers but its very odd that retailers have the cards and now have to sit on them for two months, either way AMD have made a complete balls of this launch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 546 ✭✭✭Coyler

This all comes to down to execution now. 5090 reviews are hinting at minor uplifts down the stack for Nvidia so along with that and limited supply maybe AMD are just going to release when they are ready to. Now we just need Intel to get their act together and we have a healthy market again :)

Again, pure speculation. Could end up with nothing of the sort.

A good friend of mine who works in the Trade told me that AMD had a MSRP on the 9070xt of 899 and after the nvidia pricing news they are going to have to subsidies the retailers(who had already paid for the cards) who have had stock of the new AMD cards on their back room shelves for 4 weeks now.

899 🤣 would want to be stronger than a 5080 to sell for that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭rob808

I guess they were expecting 5070 and 5070TI to be more expensive so thought they could have 9700 and 9700xt at higher prices.

They were wrong and we're caught with there pants down so delaying it and making it cheaper now.

who would had thought nivida would be doing customers a favor.

Just spotted a 7900xtx for under 800 new, really tempted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭rob808

If it under €800 wouldn't be a bad buy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,547 ✭✭✭xtal191

Thats a great deal, what model and site is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭allen175

Where did you see that, 900 is the cheapest I have seen anywhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

7900xt for 650 worth it or wait 🤷‍♂️

I don't think you're going to get much better value than that. RTX 4070 Super will beat it in path-tracing, but most titles with mild RT only want lots of VRAM to run well.

And RTX 5070 will be MIA for months (if it's even good).

I would wait for rdna4 pricing. AMD could always choose to shoot themselves in the foot and overprice it, but given the delay seems to be about retailers complaining they would have to sell existing stock at a loss to meet the revised MSRP, they'll be under significant pressure not to.

I suspect the length of the delay is seeing how desperate demand for the 50 series is and how close to 5080 pricing they want to get.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

Ive a feeling AMD expected Blackwell to be a better generational jump and now that it's not they are going to price the rdna4 stuff higher as a result, just my gut feeling

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭rob808

We will have to wait and see the disaster that the 5080 and 5090 launch.Im hoping 5070Ti and 5070 have better supply, AMD have a chance to take market share if nivida mess it up again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

Well I'm finally after biting the bullet after years on my 1080ti, bought an Asus tuf oc 7900 xtx for 950 on Amazon de.

Figured that I can't really see the GPU situation getting much better in the foreseeable and the xtx is close enough to a 5080 in raster performance at 4k, should be able to overclock this model for hopefully an additional 10% as well.

I wonder will fsr4 come to rdna3 or will it be locked to the new cards, be funny if it where to happen when Nvidia decides to let new features run on old cards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,979 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

IIRC but AMD already said it's a hardware/ML solution and will be locked to new cards.

Also not every part of DLSS4 is available on older cards.

If it doesn't I'll use lossless scaling if needed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

Rumors of a 32gb rdna4 variant, don't really see the point of its simply a 9070xt, would make more sense of it was a step up into something like a 9080xt

This is pure wishful thinking but the Navi 48 (9070) is basically two Navi 44 (9060). AMD went with the chiplet design similar to their CPUs and might have made it work with two 2 Navi 48s.

Asolutely pulling this out of my arse as are these guys. But who knows. The leak is now that these are AI focused but isn't the 5090 supposed to be as well, technically?

Leaked monster hunter wilds benchmark for an alleged 9070xt, Did the same benchmark run on my 7900xtx, 7600x system and got 201fps, could be great little card.

    Fsr/frame gen and ultra settings

AMD Strix Halo reviews are out!

Looking to hopefully make portable gaming good!

Leaked AMD performance numbers have them comparing the 9070 and 9070xt to the 7900gre. Roughly 20% and 40% improvements respectively with the bigger wins in RT titles which if it held up would mean they are a smidge ahead of the 7900xt and 7900xtx respectively until 16GB isn't enough.

The GRE was $550 MRSP when it launched outside China. The tariffs make is bloody hard to even consider what they are going to do in terms of an MSRP in $ but the bigger question really is just how many do they want to sell Vs how high a margin do they want on what they sell. It's possible we find out as soon as Friday.

And maybe I'm dumb but I only learned a few days ago Jensen Huang and Lisa Su are cousins! Boy is that fuel for anyone who wants to don a tin-foil hat! His mother is the youngest sister of Su's maternal grandfather, making them first cousins, once removed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,979 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Them being cousins means nothing very little, though.

Jensen Huang founded Nvidia in 1993, while Lisa Su worked her way up through Texas instruments, IBM & Freescale Semiconductor before even joining AMD in 2012.

Sssshhhhhh! Never let any kind of logic stand in the way of a good conspiracy theory ;)

And regardless it's utterly bonkers for those two companies to be led by not very distant relations!

this is the biggest opportunity they've gotten with regards taking back huge market share, only thing they can do is **** up the pricing really

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,610 ✭✭✭Slutmonkey57b

That's sub 700 for the non-xt version though.

I think they need 650 for the xt and 550 for the non-xt to clean up.

That would wanna be a typo, the XT needs to be under $700, non XT has to be near $500
