It looks bonkers and I am sad there is basically no chance I will get to see this in the cinema when it comes out.

Yeah these films are made for the cinema. Hopefully when things get back to normal they show in cinemas for limited Time

Of course he has a long lost brother 😂

I see they've finally gotten rid of that pesky plot business that was holding the bonkers back.

God, that looks stupid. I look forward to watching it.

80% of adults vaccinated in June, this is released end of June... this would be some film to see after the hiatus. It would actually be criminal to watch this on anything that’s not a big screen with surround sound and a massive bucket of popcorn.

You could probably watch from 5 onwards. There are 2 characters whose endings in 3 and 4 are relevant to later movies but I think 3 and 4 are inconsequential overall. You could go back to the start and enjoy the ride as it gets increasingly more and more bonkers though.

The best out of the whole F&F world was the Hobbs and Shaw one.

I really wonder how many of these they got left in them. Surely no more than 10?

Honestly didn't think anyone would watch this running sh1t show.....
Maybe 1 and 2 and how anyone could watch that Tokyo drift oh by God it was terrible.

I personally preferred when it was much more grounded.

    I like Tokyo drift tbh

There are plans for a 10 and 11, though think they're going the 2 parter route.
So kinda like Avengers Infinity War and Endgame, except with cars and less realistic. :D

This reminds me, the new season of Spy Racers came out

Suppose their is no real reason to stop as long as they are making money

Terrified they will lose the Chinese money.

Cena spent a year in China learning Chinese back in 2018/19 while helping promote the WWE to break into that marketplace.
John Cena apologized in Chinese on Sina Weibo after calling Taiwan a country during an interview promoting Fast & Furious 9

For context, F8 grossed $392 million in China alone (even the US only managed $226 million). But that's the point made elsewhere; China is the Prime Market for blockbuster movies these days.

No other way to spin that other than a fairly craven attempt to placate a notoriously twitchy audience, one that reacts badly to even the smallest slights.

Poor oul Taiwan. Can't even appear on the back of Maverick's jacket for the new Top Gun movie either.

I'm sure the apology will go down well. As we all know, the Chinese Communist Party are first to put their hands up too if they ever mess up too.

Maybe Hollywood should pivot to India, the next film can have some Bollywood dance scenes?

Oh yeah, forgot about that. So to really guarantee a Chinese release, there should be a blockbuster made of Winnie the Pooh fighting ghosts, having time-travelled to old Taiwan? :pac:

I think I tuned out of F&F around numbers 5-6 (which one had the MK2 Escort and the tank..?). I remember watching the first one as a car-mad young fella and thinking I had struck the holy grail.

Zero interest in them anymore, but I'm sure they're good fun.

Saw this tonight, I'm a sucker for big budget explosion laden impossible physics movies.

For what it is, it's an enjoyable romp, there's about 20 minutes could be cut out that would make it a reasonable action movie with grossly over the top action scenes.

But... they go to ****ing space. Low orbit, but Jesus, I cant suspend belief that much.

I'll go along with DVD thieves to international spy ring, no problem with jumping building to building 60 floors up, Returning from the dead several movies on, parachuting cars out of planes, holding onto a helicopter & tow truck using pure human strength, hell even planes with super powered magnets that catch cars mid air are good with me...

But a rocket powered pinto to intercept a satellite.... Have to draw the line there...

    Bring on FFX

Saw it last night myself. Its ridiculous but I enjoyed it. If someone is looking to punch holes in it there's plenty here to latch on to but it's best to just sit back and enjoy the ride. As for the space thing.......I couldn't help but think about Fonzie jumping the shark. This could be that moment for the F&F franchise.

I remember joking once about Fast 10 Space Furious. It sounds like I underestimated how quickly they'd get there.

I found it the weakest of the last 4 of the films, It was about 30 minutes to long,

However you don't go to see a fast movie for it's story you go for the crazy set pieces and they do some crazy set pieces.

Also that was my first time in the cinema in 16 months so it was well worth the extra 30 minutes just to be back in a cinema.

Brian at home babysitting while Mia joins Dom in the danger zone

My brother went with his GF last night to see this and said there was some very funny parts to it and that he enjoyed it but agreed that the space part was just silly.

I'm a big fast fan, but this left me cold. Felt more like they were trying to set up spin offs before the final movie rather than be it's own movie.

    My assumption is
Sean, the fella bowwow plays, the other guy and then the girl introduced with Han will have a spin off. Han will be in hobbs and Shaw 2, and I reckon gadot will come back in that too.

We might also get something with young Dom.

And clearly Cena will be back in 10 as a good guy.

I think Gal Gadot has gone too big for a franchise return but I could be wrong

i dunno, I thought that also.... but when I really thought about it I don't think it is true.

She has Wonder Woman, a very good first film (didn't like the last third myself) and a poor sequel, imo. bit part in the Justice League stuff, which appears dead.

Beyond that where is her stature? Her next title is 'Red Notice', with The Rock and Ryan Ryenolds - two people who will be in Hobbs and Shaw 2, and she isn't bigger than either of them.

Fast and Furious is also a huge franchise with massive money behind it. if it is winding down on 10, I think Universal will be pushing the spin-offs and Statham/Rock/Gadot would be a huge lineup for continuing the Hobbs and Shaw stuff and using that as the main tent poll going forward. There will be big money behind it, and she would probably get better paid for doing it than any other title she would be attached to, other than Wonder Woman.

I could be wrong and Universal may not want her back, or she may not want to go back for creative/career reasons, but I can't imagine Universtal not wanting her, or not pushing the boat out to get her - and if she is given a leading role I've not see a reason why it is implausible for her to say yes.

I just thought even using stock footage of her in F9, indicates something is going on - as I reckon she would had to have been paid for it (maybe not, I don't know the contracts). So I reckon they were planting the seeds for her to return.

It also never sat with me that her death was treated so final - when Luke Evans survived the same if not worse, and we have had a few people return from the dead already.

To nobody's huge surprise I'd say, F9's opening weekend has seen the biggest box office opening in America since Rise of Skywalker: $70 million ain't too shabby:

    https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl192906753/

For comparison, the previous film made just under $100 million with its opening weekend in the US.
