Sentenced to Two and a half years in 2013, so yeah - long since out

Hitting someone with a brick in the head and leaving them in hospital unable to talk forever = 2.5 years in prison

Sounds like it, he "spent some time in prison". Whoever did that should spend a similar time in prison as you would for manslaughter. He's basically taken someone's life away.

That’s the kind of thing that makes me want to up sticks and leave for the back arse of somewhere like Canada where I’d take my chances with bears, wolves and the odd mountain lion.

I wonder would the judge have been so very lenient and understanding were it his family member left in such a state.

This might be an unpopular opinion but that poor misfortune would have been better off had he been killed outright that night. At least that was the arsehole that did it MIGHT get a decent sentence.

“Low risk” to reoffend. What good is that to Shane’s family now?!?!

You should see the Facebook page of the scumbag who did this. Just carrying on like nothing ever happened.

Have a conscience and regret what he did? But no doubt he's carrying on like he did before the attack and enjoying life. So basically, the punishment he received wasn't appropriate at all and didn't serve it's purpose.

I’m just thinking, they can’t get advertisers outside of RTE because the marketing people know how depressed people feel watching and listening to this constant barrage of misery. Depressed people do not feel like buying things or services. If you are feeling upbeat you are more likely to respond to an advert and say “I could do with one of those”. In fact the show was so miserable I’m sure Nivea must be raging that their product is placed subconsciously in the audience minds in the same cubby hole as the misery porn.Does Dee Forbes even care?

Friends with Danny, has duetted with Rosín O also(Danny's sister). I suppose they were on promoting their summer festivals and were going all out to help ticket sales. Sigrid supporting them in Cork, she's bigger than them now!

I'm a narky fella at the best of times, and don't really like people messing with Beatles tunes.

But this one tune in particular, no one can ever come close to Paul singing it.

Paul's voice is my favourite in all pop music ever.

    Macca, surely?

I wish I hadn't read that. I'm bloody furious. That poor man and his family. Life is not fair when the scum who caused this gets a few months in prison. Ffs.

No fan of Tubs but what can you do like. Someone having a meltdown in front of ya - not mocking him - on live tv. It’s easy criticise but wouldn’t fancy it either.

On reflection, Tubs did well with the interview.

It went in a direction he could not have expected, but he was as comforting and reassuring as any interviewer could be in a live broadcast.

It's not even like the issues were obvious and the researchers should not have booked Jonathan for the show. It was just one of those things and Ryan did as much as he could as the discussion developed.

    I agree.
And I would even go as far as saying what the hell is JW doing on National tv pouring out his personal life problems. Everyone has their own problems but we don’t feel the need to go in front of the nation looking for attention.
I think JW is a good guy and he was always a warrior of a player for both club and especially country. And I think in that interview even he himself wasn’t sure what he would and wouldn’t reveal. But I just think some of life’s problems should be kept private and not put out there for discussion by the mass public. He is lucky enough to not have financial problems in life which I would say is the main obstacle to a peaceful life, he should be discussing all of this in private with a psychiatrist.

Thats the problem with grief, its hits out of the blue. I'll bet he felt he could talk about it but was over taken by emotion and it all spilled out, he is probably mortified that it happened so publically, but its not easy or healthy for someone with his kind of temperament to pull back on emotional outpourings.

I hope the people in his life are kind to him about this very human expression and he can if he needs it, get the the best help for him.
