My player ratings from the Edinburgh game:

    Peter Dooley
Not all that visible, but must have done his job reasonably well to contribute to setting a platform 5/10

    James Tracy
    Lively performance early on 6/10

    Michael Bent
Not as good as previous weeks, but did his job 5/10

    Scott Fardy
No real impact. You wonder where's the upside to selecting a 36-yo declining NIQ who's leaving at the end of the season when Leinster are winning all their games with bonus points and there's a guy like Dunne there who could use this gametime before he starts being pressured by the likes of C. Ryan and McCarthy 4/10

    Devin Toner
Some good moments. With Ireland's lineout falling apart in Paris, you wonder was he discarded from the international scene too quickly. Would be the perfect player for Dunne to play alongside as he beds in 5/10

    Dan Leavy
One of Leinster's better players on the night. Brings a real physical edge 7/10

    Scott Penny
Good game from the young openside. Looks like a classic 7 with his skilful link play 6/10

    Rhys Ruddock
Quieter than in recent weeks 4/10

    Luke McGrath
Mixed bag from Leinster's 9. Did some good things, but not exactly a standout either 5/10

    Harry Byrne
Excellent performance from the young 10. Looks to have it all 6/10

    David Kearney
    Solid but unspectacular 4/10

    Ciarán Frawley
Skilful, clever presence in Leinster's midfield. Came up with a nice offload and made a good linebreak at one stage that sorely highlighted the lack of support play 6/10

    Liam Turner
Game seemed to pass him by 4/10

    Cian Kelleher
Came up with a hattrick but looked shaky when the ball was kicked to him 5/10

    Jimmy O'Brien
Has all the skills and technical ability you could ask for. Very accomplished performance. Does it all with no drama and very low error count 7/10

    Dan Sheehan
Good impact off the bench 5/10

    Michael Milne
Showed up well in the loose when he came on 6/10

    Ciaran Parker
    Somewhat off the pace 4/10

    Ross Molony
    4/10

    Hugh O'Sullivan
    4/10

    David Hawkshaw
Looked lively. Interesting option going forward 5/10

    Ryan Baird
Picked up where he left off pre-injury 6/10

Leinster are looking to convert him to tighthead, wait and see how it goes.

Mark was playing 7 for Lansdowne pre-lockdown.

was 1st choice loosehead for last seasons 20's, but wasn't a standout in the time he got. He comes from a club background(Clane/North Kildare) and was hoping to earn an academy place via the 20's, he was retained by leinster sub-academy this season. Missing out on the remaining 20's games in 6 nations and world cup was a blow to his development though.

Unfortunately there was less positive news for Ciarán Parker who injured his thumb in the game against Edinburgh Rugby and requires a procedure this week and he will as a result be unavailable for selection for a number of weeks.

There was similarly less positive news for Tadhg Furlong who hasn’t progressed as the physio team would have liked from his calf injury and will not be available for selection.

    Ah Jesus.

So we only have Bent whose got a serious amount of minutes recently and Clarkson fit for the next block?

If one of them drop in the warm up we wont be able to field a team!

Wonder what the next option is. Has to be a medical joker.

Is Oisin Heffernan still playing professionally?

Get Salanoa back for a few months?

Salanoa is injured last I read.

Heffernan was attached to Nottingham last I saw.

Royce Burke Flynn is still playing with Clontarf... Maybe bring in Mick McGrath while we're at it too?

Pity about Parker, he was shaping up as a perfect Pro12 squad player.

We need a medical joker. Nothing fancy, but we are badly exposed.

I'm sure Leo is seething about Aungier and Salanoa now

How two players from the same specialist position were lost in the same season is a shocker

Not a huge amount Leinster could have done unfortunately.

Could have chosen Aungier over Salanoa.

Sub-academy loosehead prop Marcus Hanan(20/Clane) trained with seniors today:

Sub academy wing/fullback Jamie Osborne(19/Naas) also pictured.

. What a terrible time for Vakh to be out , he really could be making some serious headway in the prop pecking order with so much opportunities going

Who would be the top rated loosehead of this years and last years U20s ? Did Hannan start ? Including other provinces is hannan up there?

They couldn't have offered Aungier any more game time than Salanoa. The decision re Aungier wasn't solely down to Leinster. And given what happened with Salanoa theres absolutely nothing to suggest Aungier would have stayed anyway.

Aungier wanted to stay, there wasn't a contract for him with Salanoa supposedly moving to a senior deal, so he went West.

Leinster should have backed the local player who had loyalty to the province.

Hanan started the Wales and England game, wasn't available for the scotland game.

This years 20's loosehead will be between Jack Boyle(Leinster), Hugo O'Malley(Leinster), Mark Donnelly(Munster) and George Saunderson(Ulster).

The IRFU encouraged Salanoa to move AFTER Aungier had signed for connacht.

I dont blame either player for moving, nor do i blame leinster for being in a position to choose one or the other.

I certainly blame the IRFU for encouraging a second TH academy prop to move after the other one had agreed to move on as well.

There is nothing in your above statement to show that the IRFU wouldn't have encouraged Aungier to move to munster, as per exactly what they did with Salanoa

and someone with more loyalty to leinster may have told the IRFU he was happy at his home province. Aungier wouldn't have been the 1st leinster player to do that.

Leinster chose Salanoa over Aungier, which was a mistake in retrospect as Salanoa went back on his word and move to Munster prior to signing a contract with leinster.

    Back on his word??

What negotiations were you privy to?

Everything you've said is hypothetical and presumptuous

Or maybe Leo Cullen publically stated tha Salanoa had agreed to stay and went back on his word?
"The Roman obviously one was a little bit frustrating, when he left, because I was under the impression –because he told me – that he was going to stay," Cullen said.

Bad form from salanoa if he reneged on a leinster contract!!!
