Atkin's garden shop on Winthrop St.
Cudmore's at the junction of Winthrop St. and Patrick St.
    Foley's sweet shop, Patrick St.
    Lester's Chemist, Patrick St.
    Blair's Chemist, Patrick St.
The Farm House cake shop, Oliver Plunkett St. and later Academy St.
Mockler's fur shop (yes I did say fur) Patrick St.
    Bolger's, Patrick St.
    Woolworth's, Patrick St.
    Hobbs, Patrick St.
    Winston's, Patrick St.
    Kilgrew's toy shop, Grand Parade
    Gael Linn, Grand Parade
    Buckley's Department Store, Academy St.

I'm probably showing my age with most of these, I remember my mother taking my brother and I to see Santy in Buckley's almost 50 years ago, their big draw was they had a real reindeer in the store, it was probably a fallow stag but who'd know the difference, I can still remember the smell, the poor thing was probably traumatised in his little pen which was wrapped in tin foil to make it look festive.

Murrays. They used to do curtains, cushions and that kind of thing. I remember always being dragged in there by my mother on Saturdays. I think it was on Grand Parade.

Mandy's where McDonald's is now on Daunt Square.

Burns Barbers on Parnell Place. Got my first haircut there in the 80s. They used to put a wooden board across the the 2 arms of the barber's chair for me to sit on.

    Flor Griffins on Parnell Place.

    Woolworths on Patrick Street.

What was the name of the big store that used to be on North Main Street, where the sports shop is now? Think it would have closed about 25 years ago?

Also Wendy Burger, where McDonald’s Daunt Sq is now.

Going back a long, long time.

Does anyone else remember when the Savoy had that massive arcade in the back of it? I vaguely remember being able to use a slide to get down to it. Eventually the place got cropped massively and was just a room with a few machines, and then it was gone.

The Tackle Shop on the Coal Quay. If anyone was into fishing they'll remember this place. It used also (frequently I believe) win awards for the shop front as it was a lovely traditional style.

    That’d been the R360.

Had one go on it and game over in no time! They also had one of those big simulator machines that about 10 or 12 people could sit in. Think it simulated a roller-coaster. Only vague memories of it and Google fails me!
