Happy Easter(ish) everyone!

If you're looking to stock up on chocolates, the Bargain Alerts thread for Easter Egg Deals is a great place to keep an eye on. Plenty of retailers seem intent on outdoing one another, so you can get your sugar rush on the cheap!

It's also the season for college projects and research. Boards often sees an increase in the number of newbies who are looking for help or people to fill out surveys. If you do see posters coming to Boards for help with surveys, you can direct them to the Researcher forum, which is designed for students to get help and responses, or report their post and point out that it should be moved over.

At the end of 2018, we had a thread highlighting a new project from TheJournal.ie, which asked what topics you would like to see a team of journalists investigate. The project, titled Noteworthy, went live recently with some contributions from Boardsies selected as topics seeking crowdfunding. You can find out more about the project, what topics are in line for investigation, and find stories that you would like to help get investigated here.

The Brexit deadline has come and gone, and yet the UK remains. There will be plenty of developments to discuss in the coming months as the UK attempts to meet new deadlines. The whole thing has been fascinating to follow and the Politics forum has been kept busy with megathread after megathread keeping up with developments. Of course, conversations have been happening in other forums too as the Farming & Forestry forum users, Car Buyers & Sellers, Investors, and Revolut users discuss how Brexit will impact them.

The Athletics & Running Events forum has also been getting busier recently as marathon season approaches. Boardsies recently took part in the Rotterdam marathon, doing exceptionally well in challenging conditions. Meanwhile, others will soon be jetting off to London and Boston to take part in those marathons and we're sure that the race reports will make for interesting reading.

There were some other sporting events and achievements recently to celebrate too. Four years ago, Beaulieu started a thread to highlight Ireland's Leona Maguire becoming Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golf Individual Champion. Last weekend, she claimed her first professional title, and it's been great to see the support in that thread.
While the Rugby forum is set to heat up over the coming weeks as the Pro14 and European Cups draw to a close, Sevens was the focus over the weekend as the Irish team booked their place as a core side in the World Series.

Over in the Wrestling forum, Boardsies were delighted to see Ireland's own Becky Lynch win the first ever all-female main WrestleMania event. It was a long night, but worth it with two Irish winners (Becky Lynch and Finn Balor) on the night.

American Football fans are building towards the start of a new season. The American Football forum will be doing a draft of its own ahead of the real one on April 26th. You can follow the discussions and chatter about picks here. Hopefully they can get two rounds done, though they're up against the clock!

The Boards Golf Society continues its season with an outing at The European Club on April 20th. It's never too late to join the society; simply PM Seve OB for more details. You can see how the Golfer of the Year Order of Merit League Table stands after the Athy outing here.

It's not quite a society, but the Forum Games forum continues to keep active. Right now, the forum is accepting signups for a Deadwood-themed game of Werewolf, a Hunger Games-themed Werewolf game, and a slow burner vanilla-esque game. As in some previous years, they are looking to find a champion to take part in Season 6 of the Mafia Championship, which will bring together players from various Mafia/Werewolf communities to compete against one another. You'll be able to follow that competition from later this month.

After an extension nomination process, the Film Awards forum is looking for you (yes, YOU!) to choose winners across a variety of categories. If you would like to make your voice heard, cast your vote here. Voting will close in the next few hours, so make sure you act quickly!

Finally, we'll wrap things up with an interesting community focused and driven thread. Many years ago, a couple of users volunteered their services in case someone wanted a PC built for them. The thread gets revived every now and again, and there is a new project in the works that users are volunteering to help with. If you've been tempted to build a PC, but you're nervous about getting something wrong, you can find out more and seek help in this thread.

That's it for me this month! Thanks for reading :)

Best way is to subscribe to the Announcements forum, but equally I think it should appear as a pop-up on the full site (legacy) - did for me anyway

This is the most fitting forum for news from across the site. To avoid getting notifications, you may need to unfollow or follow without notifications (so that it appears in your 'My Forums' tab).

In the case of a security issue, we would also post a notice (which appears at the top of the page on thread and forum view), and I would imagine that we would also have threads across forums like Help Desk, Site Development, Feedback, as well as a Homepage Announcement that is featured on the right hand side of the home page.
