    Hello all

I've got a Sky Q box, unplugged that, and connected the Zgemma. My Sky contract expires in October

I ran the autotune, a few channels apppeared alrght but none of the Saorview ones

Is the Sky aerial the problem here.

    any guidance appreciated

Sky Q is a different lnb and wont work and needs to be changed on sat dish.

H7s does not use sat dish for Saorview as it needs an Aerial . DVB/T is Saorview .

If in Dublin Three Rock transmitter is what is used.

    Txs greaspalm,

Probably out of my comfort zone so, i 'll try and pay somebody to do the sat dish bit on the roof and set it up 👍

Tell them your leaving Sky Q and need your LNB changed , a twin tuner box like H7S needs 2 feeds as in sat cables.

What about an aerial for Saorview if needed?

Ya I definitely need Saorview, will add that in to my request. Txs again

My Tiviar Alpha Plus decided to die so I am on lookup for a replacement. Is the Zgemma H7s the best option at the moment ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,990 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Is it a power supply issue as there is a fix posted on that thread.

Not sure how many twin sat and saorview boxes left on the market.

World of Satellite in UK have Amiko "SimpleFree" triple tuner for sale for 99stg at the moment. I got an email alert from them. £15 delivery. Not sure how much customs would charge on top of that.

Having problems with saorview on the h7s, picture is breaking up and pixelating. Signal strength is 99% signal quality is 50%. Where do you think that the problems lie. Is it the box, the aerial or saorview itself? Thanks mav.

Are you sure your connection is good and your on correct area transmitter.

If your tv has a Saorview tuner is that also bad?

Is that capable of receiving Saorview?

Is it a realistic alternative to zgemma h7s?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭redoctober

The guys on this thread could advise. It looks to be an alternative. Has two satellite tuners and one terrestrial.

A very quick look at the listing raised a few questions in my head. What do you guys think?
    1. Is this custom firmware and not Enigma Linux?
    2. The FAQ says to format the drive to FAT32 which complicates the way files are recorded if you wanted to keep or share them. (4GB file limits)
    3. You have to register your box before you can access updates?

I would class this as a vey dodgy buy for anyone in ireland. DTT uk regions are pre-programmed and i doubt if they can be changed for saorview. Saying the lifesapn is 3=5 years is a no no, i have boxes nearly 20 years old. After the latest SD switchover the times channels change will be very few and far between. Relying on online updates is risky, can be switched off at any time.

Its main selling point is ease of use.

Moving from a tiviar to a zgemmah7s is a no brainer, there is also an octagon sf8008 supreme that is good.

    Hi there,

I have a problem with my H7s. I've had a box a while but between house moves I'm only getting to set it up again. The problem is that the signal drops on the tuner. For example, when I'm in signal finder and on tuner a and then when I switch to tuner b it shows the signal for a few seconds and then goes to no signal. I can in the split second scan and it picks up a few channels before going no signal. I did a swap the cables and the same thing happens (ie on tuner b, switch to a signal for a few seconds then goes again). I did install a new lnb but this could be faulty (I will try the cable in the other two slots tomorrow before ruling a faulty lnb). Thought I would ask here incase it was something simple before I go messing with the lnb. I'm on the lastest openvix image, installed at the weekend. Thanks

This new place did not have SKY Q ? recheck F connectors , yes swap cables over and recheck but do this when box is powered off only.

Ive been using OpenATV since I had my box and decided to try OpenVIX as I was keen to trial the Simple Teneighty skin.

Have managed to get everything set ok, except for the ABM for the terrestrial FTA channels? I know theres some good instructions in this thread to set these up but I cant manage to find them. Can anyone point my in the right direction?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,990 ✭✭✭greasepalm

You need to setup ABM to your local transmitter to get the correct info and then scan Saorview should bring up your channels.

where can you get HD Skins for openvix?? thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,458 ✭✭✭andy1249

Simple 1080 is the default skin.

    Otherwise its Menu/Setup/User Interface/Skin Selection

    Menu/setup/tuners and scanning/autobouquetsmaker/providers

Scroll down to Saorview , make sure it says yes , then under sub menus that appear put in your local transmitter details.

@ tech you get skins from plugins, go plugins green to download then skins, a few skns are included with image so get them as per above.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,458 ✭✭✭andy1249

@tech Get used to the default skin first , get it nicely set up , and when that is done press the blue button and make a full backup , it only takes a few minutes.

Then play with third party skins if you want too , and when it breaks , which it will , you have your backup to revert too.

Nothing causes E2 more trouble than trying to make the box something it is not. Copycat sky skins and third party skins tend to be bug ridden , resource hungry , and crash like crazy.

I know , I used blueHD ( sky HD copycat ) , Skyk ( Sky Q copycat ) and so on , and they all crashed and burned in less than a month. Starts with the odd crash , then gets more and more frequent.

No such problems with the default 1080 , its stable and easy to use. I have settled with this skin and cant remember the last crash.

What is the most stable version to flash to these days? I want to update abm providers but it says incompatilbe version 3.3 > 3.4. So I will have to reflash. I'm currently on vix image 6.3.007

    TIA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,990 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Same as me but ABM is working and have no issues so wont be reflashing yet.

I am on 002 behind you.

I only reflash when box has issues.

Was playing around with my new Openvix v6.6 install over the last week and just about have the setup tweaked to my liking. Loving the Simple TenEighty skin.

There's just 2 more minor buttons to re-programme I'd like that I wasn't able sort after going through the support documentation.

Firstly, when I get press the EPG button, it goes to my Bouquet menu like below.

    image.png

I then need to select the Favourites to get to the grid-view EPG like below.

What I would like is for the EPG button to default straight to this Favourites bouquet view below instead of above. Is this possible?

    image.png

Secondly, when I am in the grid view, I would like the channel button to scroll up and down the EPG menu by a single page. Again I cant seem to locate where to do this - I have been looking in the Interface menu to do this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,834 ✭✭✭swoofer

For No 1 go epg menu, show bouquet on launch NO. and green to save, that should do it.

For No 2, go epg menu then scroll to where it says CHANNEL +/- and toggle to Previous/Next page, then green.

    Kudos @subwoofer.

I kept looking in the wrong menus - rookie error. Thats brilliant - super happy with the setup now.

A further question - given I have set 'show bouquet on launch' to No, can a button be programmed to show the Bouquet list (as in my top screenshot) at all, such as a long EPG press?

Look at remote and see tv button give it a press!! or look at remote and see FAV button give it a go. I dont have zgemma wired up at moment.
