On this day last year, the first wave of 2018's summer heat was becoming well established:

    Met Eireann station data:

Weather map for this day (KNMI)

Although not as intense as the 2nd wave that occurred during the late June/early July period, for me personally at least, it felt much more intense as the air often felt heavier and more humid.

Finner Camp and Malin Head both below average rainfall up to May 28th with 38.0mm and 41.6mm respectively compared to their averages of 77.2mm and 58.4mm respectively.

Checking my closest amateur station on wunderground, its had 64mm so far this month, we seem to have caught every shower and every bit of rain passing through this month

The rain has finally eased off in Castlebar, we had nearly 23mm for the day.

If we get a wet June a lot of farmers will struggle to get silage in. May was so dry that grass growth would have been lower than normal.

Dont worry 150mm is for Sligo

Id imagine the East will be a lot drier

Just a lot of lows on current guidance.

A sorry start to Summer looks increasingly likely with temps of 12 to 17c for first 10 days of June bar Saturday

Awful morning again, pouring down. Off to Dublin airport after work, looking like mid to high 20's for the weekend

If we get a wet June a lot of farmers will struggle to get silage in. May was so dry that grass growth would have been lower than normal.

If we get a dry June, farmers will struggle even further to get silage in as grass growth would remain stunted. At least this rain will mean that grass growth will accelerate rapidly so that when the next dry spell arrives, there'll be plenty of silage available to reap.

sun starting to make an appearance now, drying up and feeling much, much warmer than it has at any other point since Easter, it's actually beginning to feel like it's the end of May and not early March.
