We actually commented on how well it's run given that it never had an open BETA or anything

I really hope that this becomes the norm. I never understood why we allowed developers to use the consumer as free testers. Never made sense to me, and imo dilutes what could be a good game as you've played it before it's officially released.

How can Respawn do it, but everyone else needs an Alpha/Beta? I wish alphas/betas would die on console at the very least.

I'd imagine the reason some do it is to push the pre-orders when they bundle BETA access in with them. Also need to be aware that while the game has been amazing with no marketing I think they had 600,000 concurrent players in the first day (not 100% on this figure). I'd imagine the likes of some of the bigger games with massive hype have a few million to deal with. All purely opinion above and not based on any knowledge/research (but sure what's new there :P)

Alphas and betas are the new demos, the only thing is, they're usually old builds, hanging together with snot and gaffer tape, and are being used as a preorder 'bonus' for a rabid fanbase. In no world can you have a proper beta 3 weeks out from launch and expect to be able to fix issues. All thats happened here, is that respawn got the time that was needed to make a, shock horror, fully featured game that actually works. Its great to see the likes of Bethesda, rightfully getting a kicking for releasing the likes of Fallout 76, sending out stuff to launch thats in no way complete. Apex Legends probably isn't my cup of tea, but at least it does exactly what it says on the tin.

man what is it with the big guy I can't get any kills.

How many times have you seen games announced as out of preview years after the hype is gone and people have stopped playing.

I've no problem with early access as such, just don't be selling me that sh1t as a full game on day 1.

I'd be of the same opinion. I had no problem paying c. €20 for PUBG when it was a pre-launch title. I knew what I was getting into and it was clearly advertised in my opinion. Charging 60 odd quid for Fallout 76 is not on!

Haha charging anything for fallout 76 is not on :D

This is the only BR game i think i'd have any interest in, looks really good!

Really cool game, runs great, looks decent, didn't encounter any bugs or issues at all. Hard to believe something so polished is entirely free. It's like if PUBG, Fortnite and Overwatch had a baby.

2.5 mill players on day one

    https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-had-over-25-million-players-in-its-first-day/

Delighted for respawn, Titanfall2 while amazing could not live with the release of BF1 on the same day, i feared for them back then.
Oh and they are still working on a Titanfall :)

I'm also a little confused by the release window....surely this is going to seriously hurt Anthem sales.

PS - Titanfall 2 was amazing, was gutted to see it do poorly, especially when they also put huge effort into what was an incredibly good single player campaign.

Well its like EA's trademark at this rate, they released Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 within a week of one another. Only thing i can think of for doing that is the head honcho's place bets on which of their games is more successful :pac:

On another note, has anybody played Wraith alot? Her passive confuses me, ive no idea how it works or if its even working. Only thing i can think of is the voice is really quiet and i keep missing it over the sounds of gunfire

They've lost my anthem sale, I see no point in purchasing anthem while I'm playing this. And I think I'll be playing this for quite a while.

Having said that I'm a bit concerned as to how this is going to be monetized. Absolutely no point in paying for what's available right now. I know seasons are coming, so maybe 10 EUR a pop for those but depends on what you get for it. There's enough in the game for me as it is, I don't see what they could do that we make me feel so left out that if have to part with my money. But it will be interesting what they come up with, hopefully I'll be impressed enough to invest some cash into it.

Yeah I played her a good bit last night. I usually hear the voice warning but it does also pop up on screen "Press H to warn team mates" or something like that I believe.

What's people's favourite weapons? Im finding shotguns pretty ineffective.

Keep getting a glitch where after a game it gets stuck on Party Not Ready. Need to keep restarting the game

Played a game of this earlier, it’s really good. Snappy gun play but I miss the wall running (something I never thought I’d say) :D

I know it’s F2P but the microtransaction prices are shocking. There is a skin on screen here that costs 1800 coins - for context 1000 coins are available to purchase for 10e from the in game store. That’s nearly 20e real money for a different colour gun...

Get a whole heap of them with Apex Packs leveling up, used my free 1000 coins on 10 packs to get loads of skins

For shotguns, check out the peace keeper, its slow at pumping out shots, but really hurts when they hit, decent range on it too.

ARs i go for R-301 or flatline, i avoid subs as never do well with them, both LMG's are amazing, i favour the spitfire though, snipers i go for longbow, unsure of triple take so far, dont use the scout. And pistols are all good from what i can see, but i ditch them for other weapons when i can, may hang on to the wingman at times, its like the hand canons in Destiny.

Still trying to figure out the ping functions on console. Not a lot of people seem to use their headsets

Gave it a try - for a game that just came out out of no where it's pretty polished.

Like a lovechild between Overwatch [Delivery and Artistic Style, as well as character skills] and Fortnite [Gameplay, minus the stupid building aspect]. Pretty decent, but as aforementioned I ain't a fan of BR games so it wouldn't hold my interest long... that, and it's an EA title; I refuse to give a single cent to them!

Fans of Overwatch would most likely enjoy this though.

But the diversity thing is rather curious... the white males both have to be unlocked [long grind (12k points... 600 per level, roughly 50-60+ games), or €10 each] to be playable.

Most of my kills are Shotguns in close quarters fights. I just love shotguns in general. :p

meh, i didnt even notice this to be honest, its silly to even take issue with it to be honest. I couldnt give a feck what race/sex the characters are, and those that do, deserve to fork out extra money or play characters they take issue with for a few days to grind the credits :P

Tbh, it doesnt take long, im at 9k credits now and ive only played 9 hours according to origin

Thought I would be seeing way more Borderland comparisons. Shooting is fun like BL and has the same colour-scheme rarity system and the exact same pick-up aesthetic with the small beam of light above weapons and ammo plus the cel-shaded look.

Seems nicely polished although same BR issues as any other. Land, loot for 5 minutes then creep about for ages, don't see a single soul and then get shot in the back of the head when you're in the last minutes of the game. Will see how it pans out. It runs well and I like the Titanfall world.

Finally won a game tonight, or at least survived alongside my teammates for long enough :D

Really appreciating the respawn system (it lives up to the developer's name, ey?). That second chance can make all the difference - seemed like our squad was getting a hammering at first, but a few lucky revives and a respawn helped get us back in the game. An excellent extra twist to the BR formula. Although overall the way that the game has been designed around teamwork is an admirable feat of smart game design - even the initial jump feels so much better here than in its peers.

Really fascinated to see if the game can maintain the initial success it seems to be enjoying. It's a massive leap over Fortnite in terms of how satisfying it is to actually play - whether that will be enough is another thing.

Gave it a go after work today.

It's shocking how they could put something as polished as this and without any leaks. I wonder how much they saved on marketing?!
We are doing their marketing for free! I even love idea of just releasing game like that. No bull**** hype train and haters did not had enough time to **** on everything, before people even tried it!

As for game itself. I like it a lot. Really refreshing take on BR after I sank so much time in to Fortnite. Very clever ideas.

I must be using them wrong. I get one or two shots in but in the end its the damage I take while reloading makes them far inferior to me.

Its all about close quarters really. Nothing kills fast enough at a distance/too easy to get a res for to be worthwhile. Shotguns and The Wingman is all you need really. Burst AR is nice enough too.

Worth noting that headshot multipliers are at least 2x, so if you feel like the guns not doing much damage it may be a need to consciously go for headshots even if it means pacing your shots more.

Find it weird that none of the banners track wins
