The BBC stopped showing it last year. It was on Channel 4 and Eurosport (i think)

Prize money was woeful I remember when it was on the BBC. Even though I liked the small venue they had it in Lakeside? Women playing now as well fair play.

Ross the Boss to lift it this year.

Durrant deserves to be a strong favourite but no cert in my mind. Mcgeeney , unterbuchner, mitchell even jim williams have all won multiple tournaments this year on the circuit so all capable. Durrant should have been knocked out a couple of times in 2017 and went to sudden death in 2018 so there may be value to be had elsewhere. It's a shame it's not on normal terrestrial TV. Irrespective of the noisey neighbours over on the PDC it's still the original and will always hold a special place for all genuine darts fans.

Throw a sneaky 5'er on Fallon Sherrock every year. Hits regular 140's but struggles on the finishes a touch. Still, could be her year just about any year as long as someone beats Ashton for her :)

Quest show the afternoon sessions and Eurosport have the evening sessions. Bbc , CH4 and Bt Sport have all pulled out.

Ashton for me in the ladies. An stone wall cert. So consistent, capable of the big scores and lethal on the doubles. No other lady will get close. Sherrock throws far too many wayward darts, hedman , gulliver all past it and anastasia too in and out, she is possibly capable of matching Ashton on her best form but Lisa is buying money.!

Like to see The Hammer do well.

At his pomp there was no better player at those two dart finishes.

il watch it , and id love to attend , but jesus the field is dire
hope it throws up few decent games

durrants to lose really , interesting to see if q school will distract the players , so many doing it
the euro q school is on in middle of it , so could see players have to leave and then return
crazy situation to have and really disrespects the event , but thats where the bdo is now

    Euro Q-school entrants announced:

    https://www.pdc.tv/news/2019/01/02/2019-pdc-european-qualifying-school-entries

Not sure if any are playing in the BDO, didn't go through all the names!

A few entrants I spotted are:

    Co Stompé
    Co Stompe Jnr

    Jeff Smith

    Roxy-James Rodriguez
    Rusty-Jake Rodriguez

    Jerry Hendriks
    Jimmy Hendriks
    Leo Hendriks

A lot of European names in there, hardly an English one among them.

I was wondering why there were so few seeing as bar MvG and a few others the UK and Ireland have the world's best players by far.

The only thing he'll be lifting will be pints after he loses in the first round. Useless player. How on earth you can tip him to win is beyond comprehension.

I see it didn't take long for the BDO "World Championship" thread to turn into a discussion about Q-school. Says it all really.

Even Scott Waites was saying he might give it a go this yr.

Nothing to lose now, a player can drop right back onto the BDO tour for 19 if they fail to gain a card.

The one thing I'm wondering about though is Lakeside prize money. Will a player who switches over and wins a card still be eligible to receive their LS cheque?

As I mentioned in the other thread, they only announced the prize money today so I wouldn't be surprised if the cheques fail to materialise for the players regardless of of whether or not they enter Q-School. It would be a handy excuse for the BDO not to pay out though.

They used to have a contract that they made the players sign before Lakeside. It stated that a player would forfeit their prize money if they attempted to switch to PDC.

I hardly think it would stand up in court though. I remember Robbie Green challenged it yrs ago and I believe they ended up paying him when threatened with legal proceedings.

I know my darts. I tipped Big John Henderson for the World Championship.

    Well I guess I took the bait didn't I :)

Ross is muck though, just look at his WC record:

2006: 1st Round (lost to Vincent van der Voort 1–3)
2009: 2nd Round (lost to Ted Hankey 1–4)
2010: 1st Round (lost to Garry Thompson 2–3)
2011: 1st Round (lost to Alan Norris 1–3)
    2012: 2nd Round (lost to Tony O'Shea 1–4)
2013: 1st Round (lost to Paul Jennings 1–3)
2014: 2nd Round (lost to Martin Adams 1–4)
2015: Quarter Finals (lost to Martin Adams 1–5)
2016: 1st Round (lost to Jamie Hughes 0–3)
2017: 1st Round (lost to Richard Veenstra 1–3)
2018: 1st Round (lost to Scott Waites 1–3)

The Boss must have the most cringeworthy walkon in all of darts.

Watch out for his air guitar.

Remember hearing something earlier in the year about Glenn Durrant, that there was no way he could switch because he was under some contract to BDO and would have had to pay back the £200k he won for winning the world champs the last 2 years, no idea if true or not though?

Jesus he got a tough draw every year didn't he. Jennings the only fella he ever had a hope of beating.
