The ref is only ever going to award the most blatant of penalties in that situation. Still can't believe leinster won, kellehers kick was poor but similarly one of the conn forwards threw a crazy loose pass around halfway which gave away possession around 76mins . .

    Godwin I think.

Carty really led his team for 3/4 of the match.

I can't say the same for Ross Byrne. He is a good kicker but offers little else in such a pivotal position.

I wonder if Schmidt might give Carty a look into his squad in the new year??

Frawley and Porter the difference tonight. Thought Frawley came on in difficult circumstances and shored up the backfield well. Shipped a few hits from Ali but got back up and kept throttling.

Porter really went well when he came on. Got the nudge in a few scrims and generally made game changing plays. Got the winning try to top it all off. Not a bad back up 3!

Leinsters bench made a huge impact, that squad depth is something else. The two Connacht players dropping out in the warm up really effected Connacht options off the bench. Sickened but that’s life

It was same Ireland v France

Ref let it play out, make a mistake or score...lucky for ireland and Leinster they scored

We can thank New Zealand for that

It was very very hard that day in the crowd but really has taught ireland and Leinster how to close out a game

Connacht will learn that today as well

Byrne was really trying to run a lot from the 10 channel tonight. Must've been reading this forum lately! He is big lad and doesn't have the turn of pace to exploit gaps and commit defences but at least he was trying to improve his game. Kicked well and that made a huge difference in yards up the touchline and on the scoreboard at the end

General comment, fairly sure leinster would have lost that game withou fardy. Some man.

I think this is very harsh on Byrne. I thought the last 20 in particular were some of his best plays this season. Passing just before the contact, mixing up his play, linked very well with Noel Reid when he came on and he marshalled that backline big time.

It's exactly the type of praise that was reserved for Ronan O'Gara when Munster looked dead and buried in times gone past.

I reckon Schmidt would see that as a 10 who was able to lead his side back from the brink of defeat, which until now you could have only said Sexton was capable of that.

I feel for Connacht because they were excellent, and the best player on that pitch in my opinion was Bundee Aki. He was outstanding.

The big difference for me was Andrew Porter. He was everywhere in that second half and changed the game big time.

He won’t push the current 3 out of the squad but hopefully he is in and around the squad in case of injury

Having a ref ignore blatant offences by your team certainly is riding your luck. Having a ref ignore blatant offences by a defensive team is unlucky, and winning despite that is overriding your luck. One happened tonight, the other happened in Paris.

Ya can't let in 2 relatively quick tries like that and expect to win. Absolutely sickened.

Congrats to Leinster. Thought Frawley was excellent.

He ran a crash ball in one of those last ten phases and made serious yardage. He's all hammer and no rapier.

To all the great Connacht fans on here, Zzippy, Diabhal, Utopia Parkway, CoL, connemara, Wegians....you were robbed. Connacht were the better team for 60 minutes and should have won.

But spurshero.....you can suck it. Suck it hard.

Take it easy there like a good lad .

No doubt. He was incredible in the final stages. So smart in the final passage. After Byrne tried to go himself, it was Fardy who brought us back to the goal line carries with brilliant body position. ROL was getting into some chat with Connacht after the try and he was straight in pulling him back, telling him to shut up..

The guy is brilliant to have in the group. Very easy for someone of his calibre to phone it in when they're the odd man in the European squad but he just gets on with it. No shirking of duties or lack of effort. He is right up there with guys like Hines, Elsom etc. for me.

He pinged Leinster because DK drove a Connacht player through the ruck. On Connachts 5m line. Guess that doesn't matter though?

Think the tackles stats really told in the last 10 min

Daylight robbery but Connacht can only blame themselves. Carty was fantastic best player on the pitch by a mile. Leinster just know how to win there’s no other reason why they win that as they did not deserve to

I dunno. Seemed to me like Leinster had the bulk of possession and territory but just kept blowing their own toes off. It will be interesting to see the stats. Some of the errors were absolutely criminal but cutting them out was always going to put them in a position to come back. So I don't think it was daylight robbery.

Edit: stats are above; 66% possession for Leinster, that's huge.

Edit again, Leinster had 71% territory. You're not going to win games playing so much rugby in your own half

Fardy has been a huge signing for Leinster and if his contract is up he needs to be kept on....great player to help the younger lads....exactly what a signing like him is supposed to do

Fardy was the best Leinster player on the pitch for tonight.

Also a month ago he had a two or three game stretch where he won consecutive motm awards. Top class player.

Connacht kicking long instead of for touch in the last quarter got Leinster back into the game. They allowed the game to speed up when they needed to slow it all down.

Adam Byrne was very good. Had a few big plays when Leinster were fighting back taking contact on his own terms and getting the offload away. Momentum changers

Espn has him at 5 offloads. He's such a unit they always go low on him.

What a fupping finish. Suddenly we woke up in the last 15 minutes. Where was that performance for the previous 65 odd minutes?!

Commiserations to Connacht fans. That must feel like an almighty kick in the nuts. You were the better team for most of that game.

O'Loughlin had a poor enough game with an inexperienced partner, Dave Kearney was nowhere and our starting front row wouldn't take the skin off a rice pudding.

The likes of Cronin, Deegan and especially the Marvel comic freak of a man who is Porter just changed it up completely, improved the speed and quality of service and the Connacht bench had very little to offer.

I dont know why that useless dirty piece of crep Robertson-McCoy is still on the books in Galway tbh.

Butler, Robinson McCoy, Aki, Godwin, Fa'ainga, Horwitz, McCartney, as far as I can remember they were all imports too no?

The irony of a Connacht fan trying to give out about imported players is just another level.
