Very sad to see the the Force India name is now gone but what is worse is the name that replaces it is just terrible. Such a lack of innovation.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Wehrlein being linked with Ferrari as Simulator driver.

Speaking of which - 2019 Test Drivers

    Mercedes: Esteban Ocon, Stoffel Vandoorne
    Ferrari: TBC
    Red Bull: Sebastien Buemi
    Renault: Artem Markelov, Jack Aitken
    Racing Point: Esteban Ocon
    Haas: Pietro Fitipaldi, Louis Deletraz
Toro Rosso Sean Gelael, Sebastien Buemi
McLaren: Sergio Cette Camara, Oliver Turvey
    Sauber: Marcus Ericsson, Tata Calderon
    Williams: Nicolas Latifi

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

I'd love to see Markelov in an F1 car one day. The man is plain nuts but loves to race.

I wouldn't be surprised if Antonio Fuoco is one of the Ferrari test drivers.

Isn't Dan Ticktum the RBR reserve?

    This too shall pass.

Here’s a strange sequence of events.

When Rio Haryanto raced in F1 he used #88

Robert Kubica will use #88 as his car number next season.

The odd thing is that their respective national flags are the same color.

Curious was this part of the reason for selecting that particular number as it was previously linked to identical colonies of the polish national flag just a different angle.

I thought Fuoco had left Ferrari?

Ticktum will probably get runs with TR eventually next year. I actually forgot Buemi; I'm 90% sure he is still on RB's books as their reserve for both team. Lord knows why :pac:

Dan Ticktum does not have the requisite points for a super licence

Which means he can't take part in a race but it wouldn't rule him out of a Friday run out would it?

    This too shall pass.

From 2019 there is a Free Practice Only Super Licence which Dan would qualify for.
A reserve driver is normally taken as meaning the reserve driver for race weekends.

If Dan races over the winter season and wins those championships he will have enough points for a Super Licence - pressure on Albon already !

This was doing the rounds on Facebook today.

The twitchiness of the cars then was just so good.

Two things stand out immediately, 1) Seb is rocking the sh1t out of his tache, if he keeps that up it'll be a full Mansell in no time. And 2) how hammered is Kimi :D

Seb must have taken good ol' "Red 5" to heart in his quest for a 5th title.

Who will Sky ditch for him? John Paul?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Great that he's joining Sky, because he will improve the quality of the broadcast endlessly. I hope they ditch Herbert, he's a clown

Different roles though so I doubt it. But yeah, Herbert epitomises what's wrong with the Sky team.

Yeah I know you're right about the roles but a man can dream & I really hate Herbert as a pundit. Nothing against him personally - he acts like an unprofessional buffoon though and that takes away from the coverage.

But with Ted Kravitz owning that pitlane reporter role at Sky, will be interesting to see what they actually do with Karun. Probably they'll find a way to waste him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,708 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Karun is so much better than Ted at pit lane reporting. And he doesn't have any smugness about him. He is always genuinely exciting as events unfold in the pitlane.

As an aside, Kuran is also a good co-commentator. I enjoy watching FP2 when he's tag-teaming with Ben Edwards. It'll be interesting if Ben turns up somewhere good?!

With C4 relegated to showing highlights, I'm ok with this. More Karun is a good thing, he's brilliant. Puts Ted and that fool Herbert to absolute shame.

I wouldn't mind an Edwards and Brundle pairing on Sky.

I'm not a big Schumacher fan nor a Ferrari fan, just an F1 fan, but it would be amazing to go see this.

Bryan Brophy, who was born in Dublin on September 9th, 1949, became the first (and so far, only) Irishman to be appointed an FIA steward for F1 World Championship races.

see link in my post above.

I predict that Bottas won't last the whole season at Mercedes. I think he will be gone before the summer break.

I had a dream last night that Rosberg will be announced as replacing Hamilton when Mercedes don't win next year. Hamilton will retire when Mercedes stop winning and Rosberg would be happy to race in F1 if Hamilton wasn't around, especially against a junior partner instead of an equal.

I assumed it was Ferrari winning but with the new aero to gain an advantage from and the 50 horsepower boost and reliability RBR are getting from switching to Honda from Renault they could be in with a chance.

I reckon if he is asked to move over once or twice he could walk away.

Seemed very demotivated at end of last season

He'd be a bit mad to walk away, they could buy him out though. Pretty much the end of his career in a front running team too, and possibly full stop.

I don't think he would walk. He would probably reach an agreement with Mercedes before parting ways.

If he leaves F1, I think he will end up in FE or WEC.

I can't see Hamilton retiring as long as he has a competitive car or if Ferrari have one and he has a chance to go there.
