Not when you have gusts in Cork and Kerry this morning on the verge of Red Alert territory

Weather for me in Dublin is a small bit of wind but extremely mild. Early afternoon will be interesting to see if it hits here. Fairly protected by the Wicklow Mountains. Weird "snow sky" out there (that weird colour the clouds have typically before a snowfall).

Starting to really blow in Arklow. Had a brief flap off the letterbox (that's how we know it's proper windy on our house lol).

Extremly windy with increasing gusts, large trees taking a battering atm.

Again have to question Met Eireann leaving much of Co Limerick out of Orange warning area. Topography and geography mean that winds from south westerly directions are channelled and frequently intensified within this region. Storm Darwin a case in point. Then only upgraded until too late.

    North Cork / Limerick Border

Here is the AMSR2 wind scan from 03:18 this morning, showing a much weaker mean windfield of up to around 55 knots, down on the 70 knots stingjet measured yesterday afternoon. Still strong, but as the ECM showed yesterday, now in a weakening phase.

I would rank this as the most powerful storm since Darwin here in North Kilkenny.
Just based on mean wind speeds.

Be careful out there. If your weather conditions are anything like what they are in my area then you need to take extreme care.

Whipping up here in the woods in East Clare .
Think I'll sit in the Jeep and listen to Today fm.
Or head to the lodge house, drink tea and light a fire.
Sharpen chainsaws and hand tools for the day.

The storm is starting to effect the south of the country as the number of power outages are increasing.

There were power outages in my area early yesterday but still OK at the moment. Don't know how much longer that will last though. Extremely violent gusts here the last few hours.
