The FAI and JD the accountant cannot be doing anything wrong....its the rest that dont understand accounting principles!!!:p:p

Funny thing is Delaney isn't even a fully qualified accountant. He passed the exams but didn't do his 3 years work experience.

listening to the oireachtas now... the **** has literally hit the fan. Talking of possible criminal cases. New EGM needed for a new board. Using the OCI debacle as a temple for new corporate structures.

Delaney won't be sacked. As a result of the various reports several more board members will resign, however. As part of this changing of the guard it will be decided that Delaney too should move on from the FAI in the interest of succession planning and "to allow the new football administration a fresh start." The out-going executive vice president will be thanked by the FAI and its interim CEO for his years of service to Irish football and this will be reflected in his severance package. This is Ireland, after all.

If dodgy accounting has been going on. You do wonder about the sports grants that were audited.

Is there anywhere to listen to this live? Oireachtas TV switched over to Varadker and Míchael Martin.

They continue, even now, to be a shambles.

It would not surprise me if they did not know that this was submitted by Deloitte.

Reading between the lines here.....JD has been told at least 100 times to feck off without them actually saying it.

Should be interesting what comes after the break and then to see if the FAI issue statements tonight.

Board will fully step down when internal report is finished......

No better time than now if a whole new board has to be selected to do some proper reform for Irish football and put a proper pyramid structure in place while reducing the number of junior leagues.

The Finance committee was chaired by Delaney as CEO and also included the Finance Director and Honorary Treasurer. Im sure i also read somewhere that there is also a Financial controller , but not on the Finance committee.
Auditors scurried to Companies Office to lodge that form last Friday, noting proper books and accounts were not kept.
    Another reason for Delaney's resignation.

Even if the board steps down, the same people can presumably be nominated and re-elected again. Though the FAI membership would have to be a bit thick to do it.

    This is amazing, simply amazing.

Mark Tighe deserves the freedom of the land for getting this ball rolling.

Should have have a football park called after him :)

I would imagine that that is the reason that he stepped aside and an internal investigation is taking place. He will not resign so they have to find dirt to get rid of him. The 2 at over 70 who resigned were his power base....people will now sing that there is no risk.

I don't trust an internal investigation. Anyone above a certain level in the FAI were on big expenses, it wasn't just the few board members. Anything serious has to be a proper independent audit

AGS would be stupid to try take any anti Delaney or FAI banners off the fans, especially in the ground at the derby, there'd be full scale riots.

O'Keefe's inference that the FAI "bit too much of the cake" in taking on their part in the Aviva cost was due to rugby fans being wealthier than soccer fans was completely moronic!

Cautiously optimistic about today's developments. Still a long way to go.
