Absolutely agree, the kind of person that can do that to an animal is an imminent threat to society and (while people may have different opinions on the punishment) absolutely must be restricted from living unchecked in society. This crime is chilling and the fact the maniac is still out there is terrifying.

Some real sickos out there, but even if this character is caught with the animal welfare laws in this country they probably won't ever see the inside of a jail cell :(

This reminds me of Graham Dwyer, didn't he do something similar?

Christ, this maniac is a threat to people too.

    What's his name?

    Hal? Or Al?

At the end of the day, those lamb chops you love don't end up on the plate by magic. Of course it's far far better to be as pain-free and quick as possible. But the meat on your plate comes from the same place. I don't mean Antrim. I mean animals.

Anyway, if you are upset, just put it down to Arlene Foster on the GFA and Brexit and mark it down as the strike one from dissidents. Or just don't try to understand it and just write it off as Nordies being Nordies. Feckin' weirdos

I think some things it's better not to try and understand, being able to actually understand acts like these from all but a clinical point of view wouldn't be a good thing.

Is it that different to what is done every day in slaughter houses? Throat cut, skinned and hung up?

We brand whoever did this sick but and find it disgusting but yet the stuff that happens every day behind closed doors is fine.

    Cognitive dissonance.

This isn't much different than systemic practices used to get animal products to consumers. If you're outraged by this, you should be outraged by pretty much all animal agricultural practices. There's no humane way to kill someone who doesn't want to die. Similar behaviour happens all the time, legally, in animal industries.

All the leading world dietetic associations agree that a diet void of animal products is not only sufficient for all stages of life including infancy and pregnancy, but can help avoid some of the common killer diseases that animal proteins and fats play such a huge part in.

If you agree with the basic moral principle that causing harm, where harm isn't necessary, is wrong, and can trust the leading dietetic associations, then consider that any such use of animals can't be considered a need, and if your want (taste, texture, culture, tradition) takes away the need (survival, a life void of interference) of another, then you've already agreed that the use of another life for your want is wrong.

This is a great reality check as to what happens on free range, organic, high welfare, red tractor approved and RSPCA approved farms:

    It's different.

They re stunned before have their throats cut.
It's done by a professional in an efficient manner.

What about jacking off a bull and fisting a cow to make the cow pregnant, to then steel their baby from them (for veal or for them to meet the same destiny as the mother) to then further molest their teats to take their milk, which was meant for their baby? All perfectly legal. Also if you think stunning and slitting the throat of a panicking cow is an easy and efficient process, you should watch some footage of it.

Even just look at the atrocities committed in the wool industries, again, not dissimilar to the article above:

The bull doesn't care, the cow doesn't know what's going on, and would it be better for us to kill all of them in one fell swoop and burn the useless corpses?

It takes 7 times more water to make nut 'milks' than cow milk. The almond milk industry in the US is worsening the Californian dought massively, with huge impact on the local wildlife. But you go ahead and drink your nut juice with its huge water and carbon footprint while deserts dry further and ancient aquifers vanish, rather than utilise a readily available resource made locally.

Who said anything about nut milk? What is the obsession with milk that everyone has, if you don’t drinking cows milk you don’t have to replace it with a nutty alternative (personally I would go with Oat milk as it doesn’t taste odd and is sustainable) Adults dont actually need milk at all it’s meant for young.

Why do they have to be restrained when these things are happening to them so? Why does the cow cry when the baby is taken, why do they show signs of anxiety and stress when they see those in line before them meet their fate?

So you're having to take the absolute extreme case, the Californian almond, to argue for the use of cows milk? Milk alternatives can be made from countless different crops, locally grown ones like oats too, which use far far less water. Plus, have you ever looked up what uses even more water in California than the almond? Alfalfa, which is fed to livestock.

I was aware of similar happening I my area a few years ago.
Larger sheep farmers mightn't notice a few sheep missing at times.
They eventually found guys on their land in the early hours of the morning.
Gardai said it happened a lot with take away owners going out for meat.

Might have been a meat eater that didn't have enough money for the shop.

People can argue about meat versus no meat all the want but to kill any species while pregnant to me is just horrific act. Those people carried out that are savages.

Sounds like someone was looking for a few free dinners,

Throat cut to bleed it out, then legs cut off at the knees to save on waste at home. Sounds like they were disturbed by something before they finished the job tho.

I doubt it was skinned alive, anything for a headline!! Dead things are easier to skin..

Sounds familiar around here with certain foreign nationals.

Yeah, you can (usually) judge a persons character by the way they treat animals. Probably some kid who has, to but it mildly, severe mental issues. Will most likely never be caught and could well go on to cause some serious harm to someone in the future.

It's relatively common, tbh. Especially where the sheep are on a different block of land away from the farmhouse.
