Just got the email for batch 2. Two questions for anyone in the know:

Firstly, is there any point even going if I’m only interested in Cork? Have they gotten onto batch 2 for Revenue AO in Cork before?

Also, do I have a chance of passing the interview with just a law degree and no tax exams done yet? I passed the CS AO by the skin of my teeth :pac:

So sick of being up and down to Dublin

Yes you've a great chance with a law degree. You would be placed on the law panel. You may also be placed on tax panel if you are in the middle of a course

midlands region - Roscommon, Westmeath and Offaly

Anywhere in those 3 would be great. I think Tullamore would have the biggest Revenue office out of all 3 and would be about a 30/35 minute commute each way for me. Be grand!

Athlone would be the biggest office

I agree and if this is the case I'm disgusted. They knew exactly where we applied for, if there were no posts in our chosen locations, they shouldn't have wasted our time. I am sick of forms and competitions and interviews and traveling to Dublin. It doesn't bode well they're already calling batch 2. Why not just run a competition for Dublin AO only.

No one will ever know exactly where and how many vacancies there are or will be during the lifetime of a panel.

To cover all scenarios a nationwide competition is held as it is far more manageable and economical than advertising and administering various AO comps at different times for specific regions

Ah I understand that. I'm just saying if all they want is Dublin, they should just run Dublin only. Like they interviewed up to 89 of us. Out of that, will any of us get offers or have they no one placed for Dublin out of the successful candidates that they have to run batch 2

Its all about what if and the possibilty of positions arising. Now obviously they have a general idea how many positions may need filling but its a slow process.

Being interviewed and being successful at interview does not guarantee a position. It just means you are deemed suitable should a position arise and your placing on the panel is reached.

Does anyone know how long they generally take to make offers?

I just looked at the EO audit thread and they announced results 24th October and first offers were made on 31st October. So maybe a week? Still would like to know why they called batch 2!

It was 2 months between sending us the form to fill out to sending the interview results, including a couple of weeks over Christmas. They must be expecting to have got to near the end of batch 1 by 6 or 7 weeks' time. Probably more Dublin places will come up than other places but there are bound to be jobs in other cities too.

2 reason I can think of

    1. Because maybe not all people passed the interview
    2. Just for easier management of the application process. Maybe they have more jobs available than the initial Batch1 would be able to provide but rather than interview 500 people, they narrowed the first one to 100 people or so and the next batch would be a similar sized number.

I wonder how many were placed overall. Someone should hear something soon anyways.

There must be jobs available outside of Dublin, if there weren't they would have run a national campaign but then only invited people who had put Dublin as one of their locations. We just need to bide our time.

    Easier said than done though..

I didn't choose Dublin on my choices and was called for Batch 2... so they must be looking for people outside of Dublin. I assume? I dunno.

I am currently doing two separate courses that complete later in the year.

Should I put them on my application form for this even though I havent sat final exams and obviously dont have any results as yet. I wont have done exams for either of them before interview either. Or should I leave them off altogether as they are not a Qualification I currently possess

Mention them on your specialist knowledge. That's what I did for the accounting technician

You may get an email first to assess your interest in any of your locations. You might just also get a call.
