And everyone knows that Bert is evil.

Oh thank Christ someone else said that before I did! I was beginning to think it was just me. I mean clearly the unibrow gives it away, you can see it from outer space FFS!

BTW, this is genuinely a scene me and my boyfriend have reenacted in real life just to torment each other for kicks and giggles :D

I know y’all want gay Bert and Ernie to be banging but CONSIDER THE ASEXUAL ERASURE when you say them just being non-romantic homo-affection companions is bull**** OKAY?????

This takes gold in the oppression Olympics.

    But they're puppets?

Talking about their sexual orientation is like dancing about architecture.

That's exactly what the statement says.
"Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets do), they remain puppets and do not have a sexual orientation."

Anyone who wants to assign a sexuality to children's television puppets is a complete ****ing psychopath with an agenda to spin. **** off you cretins and stop trying to sexualise our children from an early age. "normalisation"? **** off.
What are you freaking out for?

Any time I heard anyone refer to them as lovers, it was as a joke. They're obviously room mates, in the "odd couple" mould. They don't share a bed. Their behaviour is purely platonic.

Even if they were a gay couple though, it would be no more sexual than a straight couple, but adult couples of any persuasion don't tend to feature in children's tv, other than as minor characters or parental figures.

    Nah male and female.

Rossa Morbeg was the boy, a big green yoke with socks coming out of his head.

Molly Morbeg was his sister, a big yellow yoke.

Fionn was their handler. He was a male human being.

Anyone with sense knew they were just friends.
It was only those pushing an agenda who said they were homosexual.

    Or people just joking.

there are morons on twitter who are crying that they are not....because there needs to be lgbt/gender fluid or a puppet representation of the 70 genders

What are you freaking out for?

BBC were reporting on this as news. That's why I'm freaking out. The world has gone to ****e with people trying desperately to be oppressed.

    What about The Count?

He never seemed to have a girlfriend.

Maybe he was a closet homosexual??

Asexual maybe - but he does a lot of sucking since he's a vampire

A prime example of the gay agenda to push homosexuality into everything.

An attempt to impose gay characters in shows rather than letting it happen organically.
I don't see the need for character's sexual orientation to come into a story unless it's part of the story...but that won't do for some people.

I never thought of them as gay.
However in one of my comic books, there are two gay alien characters called Ken and Devlin who end up becoming engaged. I am absolutely in favour of gay rights, whether it be real people, puppets or comic book characters.

Dave Chappelle had it right. The Count was a pimp.

Mr Snuffleupagus came out as gay a few years ago.

Funnily enough it never crossed my mind as a child or adult what the sexual orientation of tv show puppets might be

What about the 2 lads in Wanderly Wagon then?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,091 ✭✭✭backspin.

Of course if they said they were gay the far right would do the exact same thing

They wouldn't give a sh#t. The right by and large aren't that bothered about homosexuality.

You are right about the left though. They can get themselves in a major strop over things like that.

While I always saw them as more than likely platonic room-mates, I did wonder. They're very bickering for a non couple. :pac:

Seriously though, I wouldn't see Bert and Ernie as a couple to be any more sexual than Kermit and Miss Piggy. And that's inter species too!
