Might be the last we see of Big Papa for a while unless an appeal is successful

    Very harsh.

Papa got v unlucky there. It's a change in direction that's he's reacting to. Red seems harsh to me. No force from my view

This shows the perfect problem with slow motion replays. The quick change of direction by the attacker isn’t taken into account as a mitigating factor.

    Harsh red.

Game has gone to hell, no intention pure accidental.

Have to say I thought it was a bit harsh but I'm aware I'm probably a bit biased. Will be interesting to see what the citing committee say

He's now on a ban until new year.
    On a harsh call

That's a young ref with an academic knowledge of the laws, and no feel for the game.

    On a harsh call

    Can't it be appealed?

    Missed Farrell's injury, bad??

The stretcher coming out didn't help his case either

Twisted his knee in contact couldn't put any weight on it coming off

Looked bad going off couldn't put any weight at all on it

i can guarantee he'll be a red card and lengthy ban if he's not careful, any clips i've seen of him he leads with the elbow in attack and defensively tackles high regularily

a case of "I told you so"

How was that a red card did they not just clash heads?

Papaili bends but then drives upwards

    Zebre self destructing anyway

I'll say this: Connacht teams in the not too recent past woulda crumbled with a man down for 20 minutes.

They've now got a penalty try. Great performance to make up for an awful showing at home to Scarlets.

Not drive upward for me there. Zebre centre changed his line and he tried to recover. His near side shoulder is down.

For me there I think it's partially him not being used to this level of play. It's quicker than club rugby and he needs to be aware that can happen.

He is driving upwards. His whole body is going upwards on contact

I'll need to look again. Certainly from what I looked at I didn't see a drive upward but I'll take a second one with that in mind.

Edit: on second viewing I still don't agree with driving up. He's moving across and then tried to follow then player moving across him

His arm didn't touch the neck.

But some here, decided he's a dangerous player

and the panel, as it is "a yellow", can't "erase completely" the call and then the minimal ban. As it's a 2nd offense, it's 6 weeks
    That's written.

Now with SOB, Boyle, Butler and S.Masterson able to play 8, i'm not worried.
+ E.Masterson will bring extra back-row cover in imminent time with Roux coming back

    It was head on head

I wasnt watching the game, have only seen the incident on social media but I'm assuming the Zebre player was stretchered off given the amount of medics around him in that clip?

I politely suggest you read this

Head collisions are mostly accidental, it was such, here

It could lead to horrible injuries but you can't sanction a player for that on lenghty ban on the same extent as a classic high tackle

Referees are under instruction to clamp down on head on head contact. I even linked a tweet from an incident just yesterday in which a player was sanctioned as part of the effort to reduce head/brain injuries in the sport.

AP led with his head. If he makes contact with an opponents head then that's his fault. Not an accident.

the player was going downward FFS.
That's logical to sanction, not to put heavy bans on unintionnal moves
Think most agree with me and hope the panel too
6 weeks will be very harsh already
