Anybody get down to the eagles match?

A mate of mine was at it. Nothing good to report. Horowitz didn't inspire too much confidence

I'd give him a pass as he was just back from a layoff. Will be interesting to see if himself and Mitchell will start against Sale.
Marmion hasn't played a huge amount of rugby this season and I wonder if he will bench if fit ?

    Highlights up.

Nice run and angle by mccabe for the first. Probably should have got the pass to blade but he was looking the other way and greasy ball

Not sure if there was much interest elsewhere but good to see these contracts being taken care of so early in the season and allow the players to fully focus on their day to day without negotiations in the background. Based on other years we can hopefully expect a steady drip of these for the next few weeks.

Anyone have an idea of who is out of contract at end of season?

I had a list but they didn't announce durations to a lot of the players last season

The main ones would be Finlay and Buckley Ultan, James Cannon, Jack Carty, Niyi and Kelleher

That's great news. Roux has quietly been playing some good stuff over the past 18 months. He's not picking up caps for no reason.

If he can sort out his discipline that would be nice. He's consistently given away stupid penalties when we're making ground for a comeback or trying to get further ahead.

Discipline is a huge problem in all of the squad but roux is usually near the top of that list every game. He’s come on leaps and bounds in the last few years but still gives away at least 3 stupid penalties a game

My team to play sale after 42s injury update.
    Buckley delahunt Carey
    Dillane maksymiw
    Boyle Copeland faingaa
    Blade Horwitz
    Godwin Farrell
    De buitlear toh niyi
Tom Conan bealham Gallagher Connolly Mitchell Fitzgerald griffin

Not sure if Healy will be fit, if he is could see him in ahead of de buitlear. Copeland could be dropped after his yellow and that see Gallagher in at 6 but that leaves the back row a bit light on experience.

Who's the captain in that side? TOH is the senior player but he's not going to be very far from the ref for a lot of the game. Maybe Tom starts for that reason?

What's the best way of getting updates from the Sale game? I'm assuming there will be no TV or live streams.
    Galway Bay FM? Twitter?

    Blade captain

Will be interesting to see how Fitzgerald and De Buitléar go, big chance for them. McCartney and Griffin aside, not much experience on the bench. Losing bonus point would be a good result.

Seeing the team it would be a great result. Sale are a decent side and we have a a few very inexperienced lads in there.

Carey aside (perhaps), that's a very strong pack we have out, so we could potentially do a job on them up front..... Godwin & Farrell could be an exciting enough centre pairing too, but yea, we could be exposed with the inexperience at 10 in particular - could be an interesting game!

It really is great to see players from An Gaeltacht, Ballinrobe RFC and Sligo RFC join regulars from Connemara RFC, Creggs and a Monivea captain

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,964 ✭✭✭connachta

Agree Tobdom, if we've had other 10 we could have expected smth. 20 senior names among 23. But outhalf matters too muh, in both attack and defence.

Actually is 11. Diarmuid McCormack is in Clongowes but is from Galway. Only moved last year to Clongowes and played with Corinthians/Jes till then

Has there been a recent update on Dave Heffernans injury? It was his ankle IIRC. Unfortunate timing, would have been included in Ireland squad I think.

Such a pity this isn't on telly somewhere. Skittering rain outside all day, it'd be a grand day to hit the highstool and watch
