You reference the front Dragons player. He was about 1m inside the Leinster half when JGP kicks, and Larmour was about 4m inside the Leinster half

But alas! You are still sadly mistaken sir!

Please refer to the screenshot. Here we see our good mate JGP just about to kick.

We also see Larmour 5m back. He is directly on the line between the 2 grass stripes. Those stripes perfectly dissect the space between the 10m and the halfway. 10/2 = 5.

Fun fact. Despite the image being blurry, Joe Tomane is just out of shot on the bench.

So I am sorry to say but our mate poor ol venjur claiming that he was 5-10 yards back is very accurate. 5 yards is 4.72 metres in new money.

Larmour is very comfortably more than 5 yards here (or 43546454 muel steps if we are using antiquated units of measurement still)

And the front Dragons player is about 2m back from halfway, which would place him about 3m in front of Larmour. Wouldn't you agree?

Bear in mind now that the original statement referenced how far Larmour was behind the front Dragons player, not how far he was behind JGP

Ahhhhhhh I didn't realise we were referring to the Dragons player not Gibson Park.

It's fair to say he's about 0.0124274 Furlongs behind

The passing skills and handling ability of Leinster's forwards was very impressive. Fardy popped up at first receiver and was throwing skip passes to the backs. Caught out the Dragons a few times. Cronin and Ryan were offloading in contact and creating try's as well. We saw this at times last season but I wonder if we're going to see a greater emphasis on it this year.

They were always a group with above average handling skills, especially those exposed to Schmidt for 8 years, but Saturday was the perfect day for dry ball handling on a carpet of a pitch against inferior opposition - when it comes to winter games in breezy wet and icy weather, the forwards will play the percentages and protect the ball above all. Odd bit of showboating still likely!

It is simple. The grass is cut in even patterns. How even? There are 10 lines running parallel to the goal line in each half. How long is a half? Great question. A rugby pitch must be 100m long. Therefore 100/2=50.

Not to be nitpicky (well actually, entirely to be nitpicky) but it can't be longer than 100m. There is no stipulation that is has to be 100m.

This is going to be Girve's legacy if he never comes back to Leinster imo. Every single player, from front row to halfback, who came through the academy under him are able to handle the ball. Obviously a few of the guys you mentioned aren't from the academy but look at VdF, Leavy, Conan, the two Byrnes, Tracy etc. They you've later guys like Porter, Ryan, Deegan who have come through a bit later but have the same skills instilled.

    Very Crusaders-esque.

Actually Richie_Rich89 if that is even your real name....

I watched the video and strap yourself in because what you're about to read will hit you harder than fact that Joe Tomane is not that bad a player...

At the point of JGP kicking the ball, he is on the half way line. Larmour is 5m back.

"But arsebiscuits1, how can you possibly know it was 5 metres back?" I hear you cry.

It is simple. The grass is cut in even patterns. How even? There are 10 lines running parallel to the goal line in each half. How long is a half? Great question. A rugby pitch must be 100m long. Therefore 100/2=50.

And here is where it gets tricky. 50/10 = 5.

Are you following me so far Rich? Will I get the finger puppets?

Now you claim that he is about 3 yards behind.

3 yards = 2.7432 metres. To have achieved this distance, he would need to be a lot closer to the kicker than he is.

So technically... IT IS YOU WHO EXAGGERATES!

Actually I think it's an example of litotes rather than exaggeration.;)

I think it's more Lancaster's influence actually. Hayden Triggs was appalled by the standard of handling skills in his first year.

When Luke Fitzgerald asked him what he made of the skill level at Leinster, he responded with something like "Aw, mate. You're gonna get me in trouble with the boys..."

He really wasn't impressed at all.

    No it wasn’t.
The post was downplaying the play.

Litotes is an ironic understatement in which an affirmative is expressed by the negative of its contrary.
E.g. it was not a bad show of pace at all by Larmour to make up the ground when the opposing winger had a 5 metre head-start.

It's called "buying into the culture". Its not a phenomenon exclusive to Munster.

    You're absolutely correct.

But in the context of my convoluted and fruitless argument, 100m metres was the handiest metric to go by.

Also if the pitch indeed is longer, it would only add to my long and still pointless argument :pac:

    Is that 100,000,000 metres?

I thought it was 100 milli metres

Why would anyone want to bring their kids to the Blue Room? Is it not just for pre match drinking sessions.

I did it once a few years ago, Ben T'eo and SOB were doing the rounds and signing autographs. There were a few kids there and they were loving it.
I suppose it depends on if they are at an age where they can appreciate it.

Don’t mind the color but someone in adidas design team must be on drugs and possibly blind. Our home, this and Munsters home have toxic designs.

I'd like to see us put Edinburgh to the sword this weekend. They are a decent team with a solid pack and made the play offs last season.

We've been a little bit off the pace so far and last weekends performance whilst a step up had as much to do with Dragons being a relatively poor side as it did with us being back to near our best.

At times last season I'd have described us as relentless and if we can really turn over this Edinburgh side it will put us in a good place with some critical fixtures coming up.

Not sure what type of team we'll be sending to Connacht but Munster home is a must win against what is likely to be a title contender team in the pro14 and Europe.

Big couple of weeks coming up, Seasons really getting going now.

Still not sure how good Munster are. Even with the addition of Beirne I don't think they have the pack to match Leinster's or to stop a repeat of the Racing game.
