Tiger Woods will surprise people me thinks. He is finally set to use a driving iron this week, something that he should have used a long time ago to sort out his poor driving. Tiger for me with Haotong Li as a dark horse.

Need to do some research but Fleetwood and Rahm are initial thoughts.

Hopefully they set it up more like 1999 Carnoustie and less like 2007 Carnoustie

I meant to do this earlier, have merged the threads so we can keep the Open chat in one place.

    Less confusing!!!

I'm leaning towards Tiger for this one, he's getting closer each event he's back but the "new" group of players will be hard beat. Justin Thomas is another one who could be there Sunday evening.

    Knox, Rose, Molinari.

Fowler and Kucher to be in the mix

Supposedly all over the place during the practice round yesterday.

Charlie, I was actually keeping it separate on purpose so as not to interfere with the general discussion. I wanted to see who people thought would win - nothing more.
    Cheers

For those who like a flutter on the Open, I think a good outside bet for a top 5 finish is Beau Hossler. He's not very experienced at links golf, but he's a player on hot form this season.

At an initial glance it looks like there may be a slight bias for the early Thursday-Late Friday groups.
With virtually no wind early thursday increasing to about 5m/s late in the day.
Friday there is rain forecast overnight and in the morning about 10mm total. Clearing up for the afternoon groups with wind forecast also at about 3-5m/s for most of the day.

Will probably change between now and Thursday though

Is there a possibility that forecast rain could more benefit the early Friday starters who would surely relish the softer conditions? Then getting faster again once the rain stops and course begins to dry up. Dont think golfers have too much issue playing through light(ish) rain.
