The 2 Opens at Carnoustie in my lifetime had serious drama at the end, hoping for more of the same.

Any indications yet of any expected draw bias with the weather?

Best course on Open rota for me, ahead of Turnberry. 99 was a bit severe but it was fun all the same.

It seems the weather conditions are going to be relatively benign this year. Also the rough will probably be a bit 'wispy' due to the long dry spell. It's possible that this years Open challenge will be a bit tame compared to previous Opens on this links.

Easier alright but approach shots will be hard to control and getclose so a really good chipper, putter (5-15 feet) needed for the week.
    It's shouting Rickie to me.

Wonder will any holes lend to a 500 yard drive this week? Apparently Paddy drove it 457 yards into the burn on the 18th a few days ago.

But the one that's starting me in the face @50/1 is Michelson.

Tiger Woods will surprise people me thinks. He is finally set to use a driving iron this week, something that he should have used a long time ago to sort out his poor driving. Tiger for me with Haotong Li as a dark horse.

Reminder, we have a gambling thread here especially for ye!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,518 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Hopefully they set it up more like 1999 Carnoustie and less like 2007 Carnoustie

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,268 Mod ✭✭✭✭charlieIRL

I meant to do this earlier, have merged the threads so we can keep the Open chat in one place.

    Less confusing!!!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,268 Mod ✭✭✭✭charlieIRL

I'm leaning towards Tiger for this one, he's getting closer each event he's back but the "new" group of players will be hard beat. Justin Thomas is another one who could be there Sunday evening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,659 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

    Knox, Rose, Molinari.

Fowler and Kucher to be in the mix
