Warriors finished. I'd say a remake would be unlikely with the licensed music.

Now on to Prince of Persia The Lost Crown.

GTA5 on PS5 is really nice at 60 FPS. Driving, flying ... is so much better. Also the police radio and mobile phone output from the controller is fantastic. Loading is much faster too, and switching between characters an even better experience. It's an old game, but still a great game (story mode, I've never ever bothered with GTA online).

I have such a massive backlog but have gamed a good bit over the last few months.

This week I finished High On Life. Was free on the PS Plus monthly and am so happy I discovered it. Such a fun, funny game.

Close to finishing up Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Should get it done today, but I'm not too many trophies from the Platinum so trying to get that all done. Crazy game. If you've played any of the Yakuza games before, it'll be familiar, but I hadn't played one since attempting that turned based one, so happy it went back to the action side of things, and having not played Infinite Wealth too much, the setting is new to me. The main story has a serious undertone, but it's not to be taken too seriously at all. Hard to talk about without ruining the surprises, but there's a lot to do, it's all mad, and it just accepts the madness.

One thing that took a while to get used to was the English voice actors. I tried Japanese, but it just didn't sit right with me. English seems to be better, due to all the different characters and the setting in general, but the lad who voices Majima is yet another Nathan Drake sounding mfer, but with Majimas very Japanese face. The rest were all acted well in fairness, they all accept their role and give it gusto. The pirate battles are more like minigames, unfair to compare them to AC4, it's far more arcadey what with handbrake turns and laser cannons, and it gets quite easy if you do a lot of the side stuff. Combat is simplistic and can be crazy with the amount of enemies. But overall, I've quite enjoyed it, but at the same time looking forward to finishing it.

    No More Heroes 3.

Played the other 3 on the Nintendo systems they released on and have this on Switch as well but figured would take advantage of it being on Plus.

Age of mythology. About 20 hours in. Looking for to empires 2.

In my many years of gaming I have only Platinumed 2 games, Astro Bot and Astro's Playroom.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,413 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Playroom was my first platinum and had a few since. But will see how I'm set when I finish. Likely will go for it. Enjoying the game.

playing one of the free plus games, Somerville. Absolutely loving it. It’s atmospheric, a nice puzzler, and an engaging story.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,413 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

From one of the guys that made Limbo and Inside. Played it last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,335 ✭✭✭Damien360

Finished Somerville tonight. Stunning single player story driven game. You are missing something if you don't play this. Loved it and could barely stop playing. Not difficult. Right up there with Limbo.

I am a few hours into Dragon Age Veilguard. It's fine. Not great, not bad. Very linear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,413 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

    Started Star Wars Outlaws.

Not a fan of the door hack mini games. Not even sure how they work. Everything just says to hit press the button on the beep but then seems you have to hit it a second time right away or it resets. I've mostly passed them by pressing the button randomly.

Think there's a way to turn them off so may just do that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,716 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

You've to match the pattern. Give a listen for about 5 seconds and you'll hear a repeat pattern of 2-4 beeps, then press the trigger in time with them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,413 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Not saying my sense of rhythm is the best but I try that. Also some beeps are faster then can push the shoulder buttons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,716 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

It took me a few attempts but on PS5 due to the trigger travel, I had to press ever so slightly early to get the timing on some of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,413 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I just changed it in the options so now no rhythm game. Now just need to press the button 3 times and it unlocks.

Still playing Demons Souls on PS5 and have been for a very long time. It's a great game, no matter how it punishes and frustrates me I keep coming back to it. The reason I'm posting this is I got an email from Sony congratulating me on finishing Demons Souls. They emailed me too early. I only killed the false king Allant. I've 3 more bosses to kill. They got it wrong, I'm not finished it at all. I wonder are they using AI to do this now and it's getting it wrong. I'm sure there must be a trophy for killing the final boss that they could use to detect me finishing the game proper but I'm guessing they could be using some kind of AI that doesn't work properly. If anything they should probably be complaining about how useless I am that I still haven't finished the game😁

Booted up Cyberpunk for a laugh, realised my completed Fem V save is gone so yeah, will wait for the upcoming 2.3 update before starting again… ugh. Might finally pick up the dlc if it goes on decent sale soon.

So in the meantime I took a chance on Eternal Strands. Was discounted enough for me to take the chance, and so far it's pretty good. It's like a mini Monster Hunter, but better to me. There's a proper story, with multiple characters you'll be speaking with often in a way similar to Hades. The voice acting, in fairness so far, is top notch. Each character sounds believable and natural. The combat is fairly basic, hack n slash style with a small bit of commitment to the attacks. Uses magic too, but differently to most games I've played. Most monsters are your run of the mill so far, each with a few variations, but the main draw are the massive enemies that are essentially collossi of some sort, be they actual robotic like collossi or dragons, etc. You can jump on á lá SOTC, and each large enemy has a different way of being defeated. The robotic ones have armor joints to be removed first, the live ones have certain features that need to be destroyed first, etc. Pretty well made in fairness. It's the use of magic that's good. I use the ice to stick their feet in place so I can climb unhindered and get a bit done.

It's open but not open world, all connected mini maps. There's collecting galore and crafting, albeit fairly straight forward and doesn't require a grind unless you want to unlock all the things. Only about 10 hours played, but I'm enjoying it so far. Story is grand, it's not cheese and doesn't feel forced, all very natural and no rushing! First game from Yellow Brick Games, made up of ex-Ubisoft devs and you can tell, but they must have been good devs! Plays like a mapped Immortals: Fenyx Rising in some regards, climb everything that your stamina allows. Took me about a minute to realise my first locked door just requires me to break the damn door and not find a key. Most things are destructible, and is inspired by SOTC, Dragons Dogma, BOTW and TOTK. Performance is usually a smooth 60 on PS5 Pro, no options to change between fidelity and performance (don't know if it's an option on base PS5), but I have had a couple of drops to 1fps! Once it sorted itself out quickly, the second time I had to close the game. Fire can spread easily, so I assume I set something on fire and it set off a chain reaction that it wasn't able to render! But 2 instances in ~10 hours ain't bad!

Not sure if it'll hold my attention, but it's pretty good for now.

Eternal strands I have been keen to try for awhile .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,716 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Good few more hours put in last night. Its not a mind blowing game, but it does what it does very well. And I have to mention the voice acting again, top notch.

Astro Bot. The new Vicious Void levels

First 4 done. Not doing too well with the mega mix level.

I never admit to being good at games but they took me a while. Turned it off and will try the last one again later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,413 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

And got it done eventually. So many stupid mistakes or rushing through parts resulting in death.

Playing THPS3+4. I don't think I ever actually played the originals of these (definitely had 1 & 2, then I think I skipped out until THUG) so not really getting any nostalgia hit.

They're fun enough. Trying to complete all the goals and collectibles in 3 before moving on to 4. Kind of find myself getting bored pretty quickly though and barely lasting an hour before deciding to do something else instead.

Been playing God of War Ragnarok on and off for about 3 months now. Forcing myself to stick with it and learn combat rather than spamming the buttons. Also, some hints n tips from a few web resources to improve the experience..

Some terrible sections with Atreus, that reeks of really bad Disney/Marvel, that could be just removed and no one would know or care.

Apart from that I'm enjoying it much more than the first game.

Some good laughs between Kratos and Mimir. Definitely would hit right if done well in the TV series.
