Real long shot here, but is anyone giving lifts? Heading from the Rathfarnham area? Will pay for petrol.

Hi Lennox, Good idea on getting a lift. In keeping with our sustainability theme any riders arriving at the venue sharing a vehicle or on two wheels will be eligible to win a prize on the morning. I hope you get sorted. :)

i got a problem, maybe someone could help. I booked for the 125 a couple of weeks ago, and the money went to eventmaster. However, i cant find any kind of e-mail confirmation since them> so if someone could tell me: did you get a confirmation after the booking? did you get any other e-mails concerning the Reservoir dog since then, and finally, does anybody know whom to contact about this (eventmaster? reservoir cogs?)

In my case I received a confirmation email from confirmation@eventmaster.ie which included a link to print off my ticket (I can also log into the eventmaster.ie website and view all my events, past and future). I subsequently received an email from the Reservoir Cogs relating to GDPR (but don't know if that was as a result of signing up in previous years, or this year).

Do you have an email spam folder - have you checked it recently? I can't remember if Eventmaster forces you to create an account with them in order to register for an event but you might want to try the Eventmaster login page:

    https://sirius.eventmaster.ie/login.html
Failing that, some of the Cogs seem to actively monitor this discussion thread and so may be able to assist you.

How does to Cunard compare to say the old long hill in Wicklow ?

Much steeper than the long hill and on the Reservoir Dog you have to do a 180 degree to get onto it so quite slow at the bottom. Can be slippy at the bottom too that can restrict getting out of the saddle

You should be ok. Tables are setup within the hippodrome in Russborough and you give your name. A list of names is taken off the registration site and just confirm that and you're good to go.

It's the start that kills you. As borderfox says it's a tight turn onto it so get in gear before you turn. The first couple of hundred meters are very steep and if its wet (not looking likely) it can be very slippery. Just stick it in your lowest gear spin up it and when it kinda flattens out get into your rhythm then. There are one or two other slight kicks in the climb but nothing as difficult as the first section.

Another one most will forget is the first climb of the day. When you come through and around Kilbride heading towards the gap (not that speed bump on the first hand bend is not the first climb) you will turn left. This again is very steep from the start so again get into gear before you turn. Every year there is always a crunch of gears just after people turn and I've seen plenty fall as they couldn't change in time.

Hi Marvin. Confirmation Emails are meant to issue from Eventmaster once booking is received. Not to worry..that doeasn't mean you weren't booked in. Send me your details in a PM. (Name, Date booked etc.) so that I can check on Eventmaster database for you. I won't be online for the next few hours as I am driving route/road marling and putting up signs etc but I should pick up your message when I get home tonight. Chat then.

If you need your bike bringing back - I'll have a space on my rack for it if you're stuck - I'm near Skerries

Yes Lochdara, Signposted, road marked (with temporary survey paint) and Marshalled at crucial junctions. You would be hard pushed to get lost!;)

    Great.. looking forward to it..

Might be getting collected, depending on what time I can finish it by. I assume it's going to take me at least 5 hours.

Lastly, is there a GPX or anything, I know it's signposted, but still, might be useful to have it loaded up on the Garmin. I can look at the upcoming gradient and cry.

Anyone know the bag drop situation?

Debating whether to cycle up tonight and stay with my folks or go direct to the start from home at early O'clock tomorrow

  • Registered Users Posts: 312 ✭✭ridelikeaturtle

I'm looking forward to this, hoping it stays dry. I'm just doing the 65km but it looks like it's hilly enough.

You could leave a bag in the corner of the hippodrome (if you can find a corner):D but there will be people coming and going so we cannot guarantee it will be secure. Just don't leave any valuables and it should be ok.

    See you in the morning.

Thanks to my loving wife I'll be up at 0530 to cycle to the start...bag may not be necessary...

Fair play. How far? Make sure to introduce yourself in the morning. Ask for Declan R.

Leaving between 6.30-7 myself. Earlier I go, easier I can take it as a warm up.

I'll be wearing this jersey for the dogs to chase

Crashed on the n7 on my way over. Clipped a curb that I didn't realise was the cycle path.

    Maybe next year

Lots of cuts and lost skin. My own fault, for not copping the lane went from a solid white line level with a road to a raised one with a kerb. My pedal clipped it and I went off.

I was tipping along fast enough so could've been worse. Red cow staff let me hang out there while I waited for the oh.

That's pure bad luck.. hope you and bike are okay ? Typical... on a straight forward spin to a demanding and difficult spin :(

That really sucks. The spin today was fantastic. I hope it's not too bad. Is the bike bad?

Was my first ReservoirDogs sportive today, I did the 65km "pup". I probably could've suffered my way through the longer one, but I needed to be home by 3pm and really didn't feel like suffering so much, especially if the weather had been poor.

The 65km route was really nice! Some of the climbs were tough enough, for sure. It was just long enough, and just difficult enough, to give a taste for working toward the 125km next year.
The "litter swap" for the goodie bag was a very nice touch. All sportives should do this.
The contents of the goodie bag were top notch! Skittles after a day on the bike are fantastic.
The marshalls and signs were all very good.
Coffee at the registration tent! Brilliant.

Met a few nice people along the way, saw a lovely celeste Specialissima and the most gorgeous new chrome/red Basso (just... wow).

Thanks to the Reservoir Cogs for putting this on, a great event. I'll try to get some of the guys I know to come do this one next year.
