    50mm at times likely.

It has recently been downgraded from a nationwide event to an event that doesn't cover the west coast.

Update: Orange warning added for thunder

It feels explosively close out there today, but I've never known whether it's a misconception to connect that with an increased possibility of thunderstorms?

It's cloudy with some sunshine in Cork City. Not a drop of rain yet but I don't think we are expected to get much here

Updated OP with the new orange warning. If a mod could update the prefix to reflect this maybe?

Rather cool with a chilly onshore wind in inchicore, Dublin. Cool enough to need a top. Moderate to heavy rain less than a kilometre away.

There was an active cell in Wexford but it seems to be gone quiet again.

It brought much needed rainfall at least.

Best thunderstorm in years here in Letterkenny

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,421 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

I reckon there should be an orange warning for South Dublin/North Wicklow for potential flash flooding in the next few hours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,709 ✭✭✭SleetAndSnow

Looks like a few strikes in Letterkenny alright and near Ballybofey.

Parts of the county are getting hammered. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones.

Some really torrential downpours around now at the moment. Sporadic lightning with more organised cells in the NW

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,934 ✭✭✭daheff

sky looking dark and ominous over Celbridge the last hour...nothing yet though. seems to be very slow moving.

Cant wait.....would it be too greedy to ask for a MASSIVE thunder/lightning storm after the snow we got this year?

Dry and cloudy/misty. Still on the wrong side of the convection and might escape relatively dry but we'll see. In any case some much needed rain for some parts of the East today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭taylor3

    Glorious in Roscommon.

Inishowen, quick 5 min shower and a tiny bit of rumbling

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,731 ✭✭✭firemansam4

Convoy in east Donegal had quite a big thunderstorm, and torrential downpour, lasted about 45 minutes. Didn't seem to get any crashes of lightning very close but it was pretty intense for a while. Its cleared up now for the time being.
