So far this debate has me really worried that the 8th amendment won’t be repealed. People in the audience seem to think women will be running out for abortions without giving it any thought whatsoever. The Yes side need to stop falling back on rape/FFA angle and focus on the thousands of other reasons a woman might need/want an abortion, and how it is HER CHOICE what happens with her own body.

Have there been any significant or far-reaching opinion polls done so far?

I am contacting the Mod as they made a ruling based on no contact, and gave a reply based on one had to read all the posts which is not a requirement in the rules.

Abortions on healthy babies by healthy mothers

Like rape victims? Pregnant children? Women in financially precarious positions? Women in violent relationships? Women with no support?

I recognise the doctor in the audience that spoke on the late late show, he looks like he’s about to blow a gasket at the crap the No side is saying, he looks furious!

    Which part is crap??

Both sides are arguing their interpretation. Its not a black and white scenario. I can understand the perspectives of both sides and their thought processes of same.

The lawyer said this is simply about repealing the 8th. If that's the case then were does the 12 week thing come into it? Doesn't that mean that it's not just about repealing the 8th but the replacement for it.

Edit: If it is just about repealing the 8th fine. Then if it's passed we should have another ref about what replaces it.

Unfortunately the majority of those who are No voters are horrifically misogynistic towards women, even the women No voters.

They have such a terribly low opinion of anyone who seeks an abortion because they don't want a woman who's suffering to abort a baby they don't give a bollocks about once it's born. They can dress it up all they want, but they just don't give a toss about the woman, and don't give a toss about her baby after it's born, providing it isn't aborted.

It's hypocrisy of the highest order and just further demonstrates how out of touch with reality these individuals are.

The 12 weeks is for legislation after the repeal. We needed some sort of proposed legislation or it would be too up in the air for voters. It is subject to change with lobbying.

These hard cases are such a small % of abortions

So what? They are the ones that keep ending up in the supreme court causing agony for people

Whats wrong with repealing the amendment and letting those that want a termination have one, nobody is going to force anyone that doesnt want one to have one?!

Or they got sick and tired of you dodging questions like the plague because you're incapable of doing anything other than lie and run away 'til you think it's safe.

I’m behind on the live version but as a qualified lawyer And Maria using the the ‘I’m the only lawyer’ card. She would be in massive trouble in the uk with the law society for saying that as you aren’t allowed to say that unless you follow it with ‘non practising’ or you can lose your licence!

She is a sneaky unethical person to do so. It is against the legal code of conduct.

Secondly I am confident that no voters have lied to get into the audience pretending they are yes voters...

of course its about repealing the amendment, we have to have a referendum on constitutional changes.
we don't have referendums on legislation
