Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He said he had done 30 miles on the treadmill that week alone. All taking place before their full sessions. If he is not used to running that will definitely take it's toll quickly.

The DC/AKA training methods. Have all the injuries been from DC's team so far?

Could it be possible they don't train enough cardio in SBG? Genuinely interested, not trying to have a sly dig at them. Strange that every other fighter on the team was fine apart from him, possibly the weather too.

Their have been a few injuries but most happened in a fight. One injured his foot and the other had a concussion. Sure, it might have been due to over training but it could easily have just been normal fight injuries. Some other guy tore his ACL not sure if he won his fight though.

A lot of these in fight injuries can be fatigued related. Continuous strain on muscles, ligament or bone impact. The increased intensity of a fight just pushes the body too far.

I believe cardio and strength and conditioning is generally just left to each individual athlete to take care of themselves.

Overdoing it on the threadmill could definitely cause problems. But that be an injury not overtraining. Proper overtraining is pretty rare and takes months of overdoing it.

Hopefully he gets a shot on the finale.

Just watched the latest ep. Was the "fight god" undefeated because he never actually fought before? "I've never been cut", ffs.

Anyone else really curious about how Delani came into all that money? He says he trains full time but you can’t buy Rolex watches off a low level pro MMA contract, you can barely keep yourself going at all.

They could all be fakes or his parents have money or something like that

I saw someone on Twitter say he had tested positive for “elevated levels of debt” :pac:

Richie Smullen is going to be fighting Luis Pena in the Ultimate Fighter finale card. Delighted to see him get his shot after what happened.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,397 ✭✭✭xtal191

Great news about Smullen, didn't think Dana would give him another chance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

    Tough fight for Richie IMO.

Pena is so long, he might find it difficult to close the distance enough to take it to the ground.

Glad he’s getting a shot however. Fingers crossed!

gunther must have the worst striking I've ever seen in mma....he made pendred look like bruce lee there  thanks be to jesus he didn't somehow win that one

delighted for richie but gotta say I'd nearly rather have seen someone other than pena so he's certainly doing have to do it the hard way

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,161 ✭✭✭Amazingfun

That was hard to watch, lol, but he is some character :)

Can't wait for next week, and best of luck to Richie!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,649 ✭✭✭Whelo79

Couldn't help but think Mike was actually going easy on him. He was lighting him up with every jab, hook and upper cut he threw.

Great fight between Brad and Bryce, hate having to wait a week for the next one. Won't spoiler yet as its just out but is a cracker :)

Very good fight, just got done watching the episode.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,161 ✭✭✭Amazingfun

Got to say HI and shake Brad's hand tonight @ the Robin Black event, lovely guy :) And John K said on stage that Brad is "fighting a little robot", lol...I am racking my brain now trying to figure who he means, and I am thinking it's Tyler. Wonder if this means Brad makes it to the final of the finals!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,649 ✭✭✭Whelo79

I met Brad too, just happened to sit right beside him at the show. Really nice guy.

Said John and Artem would be cornering him in the finale.

The fight between Jay and Tyler was phenomenal. The best Ultimate Fighter fight I can remember ever seeing.

Can't say it better than as above

    What a fight !!!!!

Just watched it now. I think Brad winds the final. He's a much cleaner, rounded martial artist from what I've seen to date.

Is it reasonable to say that fight possibly guaranteed TUF’s short term future. The continued survival of the concept has been under discussion lately I believe.

Why would a great fight be a reason to end it? I love this show, sure some seasons are better than others, but I am no where near tired of it.

You misunderstood. The talk is already that TUF will likely cease shortly. The house is up for sale (listed at $5 mil).

The above suggestion was that the last fight might give it a temporary shot of life

I’m most definitely not saying it should be a reason to end it.

That wouldnt make sense at all. What I was saying was essentially the opposite of the meaning you took from. A great fight is a good reason to keep it going basically.

Imterest in it has waned significantly and it’s been on the block a number of times and has just barely survived being axed. The Cuccionello/Diamond fight just might have secured its future for another season or two.

Yes that’s exactly what I meant.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,161 ✭✭✭Amazingfun

Apologies, I took that up wrong and wasn't aware the selling of the House meant the end of the show, just figured they were getting a new one, lol.

i think Brad and Joe will win their finals. Some good match ups as well with Luis vs Richie and Tyler vs Bryce. I'm surprised Dulani isn't on the card. Could have made millions with him on there.

With all the money he has, you'd think he'd just buy the UFC and put himself on the card.

He's stepping in as a last minute replacement for Max. Fighting Ortega for the interim strap!

The beginning of a rough couple of nights fighting against sleep.

    Strap in guys! :pac:

Is the whole event on fightpass does anyone know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

A strange atmosphere in the Palms. Sounds like there’s less people there than at a TUF episode :pac:

    Yeah looks eerily quiet there.

I thought the UFC had cut ties with the palms though? Something to do with them banning Dana from the gaming tables because he was winning too much.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,539 ✭✭✭John_D80

    Fuuuuúck.

Meerschaert possibly losing round 1 by 10-8 and then turning it around like that!!

Was that a pretty late stoppage? Guy looked out for a bit to me??

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,539 ✭✭✭John_D80

I dont think so personally. At absolute most he was out for 3 seconds maybe I'd say. Ref did well there actually I think. A lot would have stopped it a lot earlier than that while it was up against the cage but I think he did well to let it run like he did.

Montana De La Rosa is the hottest female fighter on the UFC roster.

    Don’t @ me.

Fun fight between Bryce and Tyler.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,649 ✭✭✭Whelo79

I think I might have it scored 2-1 to Bryce. The first round was tight enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

I had that 29-28 to Tyler. Delighted Bryce got the nod though, seemed like a decent guy on TUF.

    Yeah, likeable lad alright.

Poor Gunther, even throwing punches into the camera there he looks anything but a fighter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,481 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

I can only imagine the corner advice Gunther will get here.

“You’re doing great boy, just keep pretending he’s an alpaca and hold onto that motherf**ker”.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

    I was wondering how:

    1) Gunther got into TUF in the first place
    2) Got a second chance after being submitted after 17 seconds in the first fight and looking generally atrocious
    3) Gets a matchup in the finale against the only fighter on the show he might be able to beat

Then Jimmy Smith mentions that he trains in the same gym as Stipe and it all makes sense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,649 ✭✭✭Whelo79

Zuniga looks so poor again. I can only imagine what Richie Smullen would have done to him on TUF if that fight went ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

    Gunther = John Redmond.
