Then putting the foot down when they try to overtake. The look on their face makes my day

There's not enough torque in an RX8 for that to make a difference :pac:

What does I turned on my big light mean? I'm just picturing a car with the top part of a Lighthouse sitting on the roof...:P:P
I can only assume he sticks his high beam on until said slow driver moves out of his way. I also believe one would like to have a brick in his car to throw at these slow drivers.

One sounds like a muppet boy racer to be fair.

RX8 is kinda a no-go anyway compared to the RX7 Turbo

I get great satisfaction from being overtaken by numpties when there's loads of traffic. Watching them sit on the arse of the car in front with their tyres hitting the cats eyes and touching the brakes every couple of seconds, looking for their moment. Seeing them overtake and get flashed by on coming traffic and then 25 minutes later sitting side by side at a set of lights and saying hi.

One of the most annoying (for me) things is policing drivers by other road users.

Let the cops do their job, don't DIY. DON'T.

    Use that road regularly
Can be a lot of pedestrians using the hard shoulders for walks with dogs
Like said I wouldn't budge for somebody flashing lights and riding the back bumper of my car

    I loved my RX8 :(

Slam it into second and away you go, make up for the torque by driving like a loon. :D
Honestly though, it’s no rocket but it has more than enough to compete with and defeat most hot hatches of the same era. Certainly wouldn’t be worries about diesel Opels.

Anyway, I wouldn’t be much of a drag racer, doesn’t say much about a car.

You just need to use the stick beside your left arm to get the best of it. Needs to use the revs more to make up for it and spin the engine.

But it likes being spun. They'll go like a rocket in second and third which is 40-140kph sort of range - good enough for most irish roads.

Not at all in the suprise neutral that appears when it pops out of first when you try drive off from the light. On the plus side I think it left scorch marks on the bumber of the red focus try to sneak to the top of the queue behind

Ah the old “**** you” flame. It’s hard bet. :p

But it’s got no torque so it must be slow

Torque is for pulling trailers. One of the fastest cars I’ve owned had f all torque.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,729 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

It has its place, from a rolling start a car with more torque is going to pull away quicker, this is also true after a low speed corner.
It all relative though, which is faster depends on the course, the drivers and the style of driving.

Torque and horsepower are directly related, make less torque at a given rpm and you also make less hp

They will be directly linked in a specific engine but the power and torque of a specific engine at any given point varies wildly across the board.

Technically it the same with any engine, if making X torque at 2000 rpm all engines will make Y horsepower at 2000 rpm too. What changes is the ability of the engine to make torque i.e a turbo engine will have much greater torque low down that an NA engine.

    That’s not correct.

    Jesus what have I started....

Just to be clear, the roll eyes means I was joking. All well and good having a bucket load of torque but if you run out of revs at 3.5k you'll be changing up well before Mr Wankel needs to

Some flea riddled team of apes designed the end of the N4 buslane into M50 northbound cluster****. A merging truck nearly took 2 cars out of it.

Anyone driven a GS450h? Thoughts? I like the concept of the IS300h but found it sluggish...

You should see it in the morning  lanes on the road mean nothing, it's a free for all. I've seen drivers swerve in at the last minute going in all directions, once seeing someone drive across the concrete section after the divider

Hopefully no one was hurt there. I have to head that way in under an hour :(

Wonder is that Z a twin turbo and manual :D and what Cavan man in their right mind would spend money on one!!!:p
