Cork snow shield fully restored, the few flakes we got around 10 are just a memory now.

you must be joking...at least 8 cm in Castleknock which is just up the road and still snowing

Doesn't look like 8 cm to me. Don't measure it on the grass.

Long may it remain in place.

Could there be a third within weeks?

Well there is a chance of a cold northerly at the end of March and the start of April.

Anyone know what the n11 is like between Arklow and Bray??

    Is it gritted or cleared??

Can't say for certain, but Wicklow County Council are playing a blinder on the text alert service and they say that gritting and ploughing is ongoing. Caution advised for all roads - slippery conditions. Secondary roads should be avoided.
Sign up for text alerts on the WCC website (select all sub districts that apply to your usual travel route).

    That's a lot of snow!

It is. I must be getting some enhanced lift from Wicklow mountains to my east

Big fluffy flakes in Limerick City, not really settling though and strangely windy for an easterly.

Yes hooray for the return of the Cork snow shield. Just driving into town now for lunch! Makes a change to being snowed in for 5 days!

Still hacking it down in Dublin16. 8cm so far, shows no sign of stopping and no thaw noted.

How long is the snow supposed to continue ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,604 ✭✭✭grumpymunster

Was just out and about in CityWest / Saggart / Rathcoole does not seem like any gritting done anywhere. N7 in that area not great and slip roads quite bad

This is ridiculous. Everywhere around East coast of Meath they have huge amounts of snow and it might aswell be raining cause the snow is just melting......

    F**k you Isle of Man.....

Wicklow through very S.dublin and into N.Kildare look like benefiting the most at the moment from this regeneration over the Irish sea. Starting to beef up nicely off the Wicklow coast.

Whiteout again in Laois ...blizzard like conditions. Temp staying around 0 ...I can imagine it will thaw fairly quickly if it ever stops bloody snowing, snowing all morning. Not always heavy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 800 ✭✭✭Jimjay

In wicklow town. Heavy non stop snow all morning.

If you can't see a slice held out at arms length you are in a blizzard. Not quite there yet.

Didn't think I would be back on this forum so quickly, but for the record, here is the current status at Ice Station Kilo (Kilpedder), North East Wicklow.

    10:30hrs

Currently snowing heavily - depth 3.5cms on flat surface
Big flakes of wetter snow than during Storm Emma
    Temp -1.1 c
    Pressure 1006 hPa, steady

Visibility is bad at times during heavy fall

Christmas tip - take a photo of your house now for a custom greeting card next Christmas :)

More than likely we might have this on Christmas Day too!
