    I said this in the EP thread but anyway, I seriously doubt a first time fest could get the full arcadia set up, its fookin massive these days. The one at glasto has space for 25,000, a very scaled down version could work though.

    They had it slimmed down for Metropolis in its 1st year, which is also POD promoted. So i presume the same

    I think I'm going to buy a ticket for this on Friday. I can still go to picnic too and I think we should try and support what appears to be a quality new festival, it could be really great in a few years if it survives.

    Edit: Also surely Waterford natives King Kong Company will be added?

    Would someone be able to enlighten me as to what Arcadia is ?? :p I feel like a noob for even asking

    On another note: Very excited about this festival - I'm usually one to go for the smaller festivals. Having done all the huge ones back when I was growing up in the Benelux (Rock Werchter, Dour Festival, Pukkelpop, Tomorrowland, Graspop Metal Meeting, Wacken, Reggae Geel), I got kind of fed up with the crowds (or likely I'm just getting old :p)

    Only Irish festivals under my belt so far are Castlepalooza 2014 and Townlands 2017

    What All Together Now is offering us (so far) seems right up my alley:

    * First announcement of acts, pretty solid. A nice mix of different genres I'm into
    * Capacity of nothing enourmous
    * Over 21s
    * The site looks unreal
    * Free flow policy
    * Pricing

    I've a feeling, based on the interest here and elsewhere, that it'll sell out. The first and possibly second tier at the very least will sell out quickly.

    Roll on Friday and then August!

    Arcadia is basically a stage for DJs, with a crazy fire and light show and acrobatics, its cool.

    Right, babysitter sorted for the weekend.

    Sorry 5 week old daughter, I love you to bits but mammy's digging out the camping gear and the cooler. Plus you have to be two to attend.

    This is ticking a serious amount of boxes. Is there any details for Boutique Camping yet? When you click on the link on the site it goes nowhere.

    And that campsite entertainment will go on until 4.00am which is what is making me think there is a stage in the campsite.

    good to see that - probably one of the best things about EP is the body & soul and trailer park stages going on late after the main stage finishes up. would hate if everyone forced back to their tents at 12.

    Has anyone any idea what this members special deal is going to be? Really hope it's something like presale tickets or something along those lines

    from the application:
    Crowd control at each of the designated pedestrian entrances and the entrances from the campsites to the concert arena is to be achieved by use of a barrier/corral system with each corral (lane) having a patron search and ticket validation / collection.
    Records from previous events confirm that it is possible to process 800 - 1000 persons per hour through each search/ticket collection lane and accordingly the number of search / ticket collection lanes will be determined on this basis.

    No free flow policy in place.

    also:
    Funfair facilities are to be provided on site and operated by a specialist contractor. This contractor is to submit a safety statement and appropriate certification for each item of equipment. This is to confirm that the standard of the funfair equipment and the operation of the funfair will be in compliance with appropriate Standards and Regulations.

    from the application:

    No free flow policy in place.

    also:

    I wouldn't necessarily say there's no Free Flow, especially as it talks about ticket collection.

    from the application:
    No free flow policy in place.

    The Festival website is clear on both allowing your booze into the main arena, and searchs applying to entry into the festival site (for glass). Nothing in the application contradicts that.
    Can I bring my own alcohol ?

    Yes, each person is allowed to bring 48 cans for personal consumption. This can only be brought into the campsite and main arena. No glass bottles are allowed.

    Can I bring glass bottles?

    For safety reasons you are not allowed to bring glass bottles into either the camping or festival site. Alcohol within your limit must be decanted into plastic bottles. Any glass items, except for small make-up items and perfume/aftershave will not be permitted into the campsite or festival site.

    Can I bring soft drinks?

    Sealed drinks, like bottles of water, are allowed but will be checked on entry to the site. There is no set limit on soft drinks.

    Am I allowed to bring my own alcohol or soft drinks into the festival site?

    Yes, you can bring your personal consumption into the festival site.

    Pity we can only bring 48 cans in each

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,501 ✭✭✭PabloAndRoy

    This can only be brought into the campsite and main arena..

    Why would you say "only" here?

    i reckon this is a typo and should read:

    "This can only be brought into the campsite and not the main arena."

    I hope I am wrong, but I don't think we have a free flow policy in place here.

    I would love to be wrong. I am not a facebook user .. so maybe someone can ask them there for clarity?

    Yeah 48 cans and multiple water bottles filled with vodka.

    I feel like I'm building unrealistic hype by posting that Arcadia vid, if it does appear at this festival it won't be that, it'll be a much smaller version but it would still be awesome.

    Smart of these boys to put tickets on sale on the first payday of the year when people are likely to have a bit of cash to spare too

    They distinguish between the camping area and the festival site. And they’re clear that you can bring alcohol (in plastic, and within personal limits) into the festival site. I’d assume they say alcohol only in the camping area and main arena as there’s some specific areas you can’t bring booze into (are any buildings onsite accessible to punters?).

    The old Arcadia setup at EP was a scaled down affair too. Tbh, the spider and associated show isn’t that much more entertaining than the cheap seats alternative. In some ways the Heath Robinson qualities were more fun in the old EP set-up. Fire! Fire!

    I actually don't like the big one at glasto much anyway. Always huge crowds and the sound isn't great in spots, generally crap DJs. A smaller version with better DJs would be ace at this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,948 ✭✭✭Ricosruffneck

    anybody have any speculation for the rest of the announcements,

    I'm gonna go with Grace Jones, we are scientists, Digital Love (daft punk tribute), NAO, The Lemon Twigs, Dirty Projectors, Dream Wife being included.

    And sadly the possibility of Paloma Faith.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,158 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

    I think they blew their load in the first announcement and the next one is likely to be weak enough but I could be wrong. I think King Kong Company will be added.

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Deisegodeo

    King Kong Company are playing Independience the same weekend so may rule them out... They would be hugely popular to play ATN as locals
