I love the humour that exists in Ireland I the face of some of the worst situations there's always someone with the strike down one liners.

The best thing I like about boards is "the other thread" !

The Late Late Show/Ray Darcy/Eurovision/Rose of Tralee threads in the Television Forum turn programmes I wouldn't bother watching into a bit of fun.

The stingiest/creepiest/most embarrassing/biggest tantrum you've seen threads, nothing better than being 20 pages behind one of those threads and having the next hour free to go through them.

The Dashcam thread in the Motoring Forum, even though the ratio of pointless bickering to actual videos is way too high.

Picking apart ads in the Television/Radio forums is usually good fun.

Also most of Von Bismarck's posts are hilarious.

I like browsing the Ship Porn! thread on the Maritime forum, Sailing in Sports forum and Bangernomics on the Motoring forum.

I've got great help on loads of forums- from sending food to Japan in the Japanese forum to fixing a leaky tap in the Plumbing forum. Even today I got answers regarding a lop eared rabbit on the Pets forum.

It's a handy, helpful and often funny site.

When I'm on crazy hours at work, checking in on the local/regional forums is a good way to generally keep in touch with what's going on in my area.

It's a great source of Irish based information on so many topics. So many helpful people! I have also received support and advice here that helped me through some very tough experiences. And it's just a great distraction from real life.

In particular I love the Weather, Farming and Weddings forums. I have no explanation for why I love those last two but they're both fascinating. I rarely/never post in these three but read them regularly. I like AH a lot too, and there have been some great threads over the years, particularly "Anything Creepy or Unnerving" and "Favourite Unsolved Mystery". I understand the site is in decline but I don't see any decent replacement options out there.

All the tits in the beautiful women thread.

Attack the post, not the posters! Reported!

I like the craic that can be had on boards and tend to stick to the more light hearted threads. I love reading away and then coming across a post by someone that would genuinely make you laugh out loud.

I like the way aswell you get wee snippets of people lives and kind of get an impression of people. It's funny with some posters, particularly ones I like, I get a pretend image of what they look like sometimes (probably completely way off the mark) lol lol.... (A lot of ye will know who I'm referring to with the lol lol)

I like boards the same way I like smoking, drinking and gambling, there are enough highs to keep you coming back but on the whole none of them are really that good for you.

I like a mixture of threads.

There's usually very good advice to simple issues across numerous areas if you can wait 24 hrs or so for users to see and respond.

I love the Irish style of humour that can be seen in most threads.

Some threads where people post their story on a topic such as ONS or my get out of there moments are very funny but they don't come around too often.

Some ongoing serious ones like Brexit have decent contributors and some very good discussion.

This year I found myself thinking about some posters around Christmas and what they might be up to so I too get a sense of community here.

Oh yeah, the legacy site. Don't go near anything else on pc.

Werewolf Forum and Forum Games Forum - gems on the site. If you are looking to get invested in a forum for a week or so at a time, pop over there. Also an excellent sense of community i havent seen in years outside of private forums.

The people - Boards is nothing without the people who use it, and for every one who acts the dick and tries to ruin things for everyone, there are 100 smart, funny, insightful, caring and helpful posters who want to enjoy the site and want others to enjoy it too. You can ask for advice on the most obscure stuff and in no time there'll be multiple posters there to help you. Or you could have had a sh*te day and just want to vent, and again there'll be a load of strangers there for you to vent to and wanting to make sure you're OK. I've made some lifelong friends on Boards, as well as meeting my wife here, and it's these people and the countless others who make me want to keep coming back to the site.

The Irishness of it all - there's an awful lot of sh*te posted on this site that everyone gets but would make no sense in any other country on the planet. Sometimes you have to feel sorry for all the inhabitants of those countries that they're not in on the joke. :D

Trent - if you have never encountered the genius of Trent, do yourself a favour and click here.

The Christmas forum (aka The Happiest Place on Boards) - I very rarely post there (although my wife is one of the forum regulars), but I do drop in to have a look from time to time and it's a wonderfully positive forum that acts as a nice antidote to the seriousness and negativity that sometimes pervades the site. The posters there are all barking mad (in the nicest possible way :)) and in July they're obsessed with Christmas as much as they are in December. They have a lovely little community who never have a bad word to say to one another. If you're ever looking for cheering up you could do worse than visit there (Grinches not welcome at any time).

Santa Strike Force - I don't know what's going to happen to it when DeV finally packs it in, but it has provided many years of warm, fuzzy feelings knowing that you've helped make the lives of some well-deserving kids just that little bit better.
