I can't view other peoples infractions, I know one lad in particular got an infraction but I can't view it on their profile for some reason?

Not sure then. There's an infractions tab, fairly sure I could see that before I was a mod.

Nope I can't see them whatsoever on someone else's page that I witnessed getting an infraction, want me to send a screenshot just to show you in a PM or something? Just to keep the thread on topic like.

you can also double click on the card on the thread as well to show details.

EDIT: Skylinehead, if you want to lash a card at me here so I can be the guinea pig for all to see here, fire away.

Yes but not on deleted posts or threads.

Oh yeah I'm aware of that, I just think that the infractions tab should be visible for users as well, for the reasons gandalf stated. Otherwise you'd have to go trawling through past posts to see if any action was actually taken on the post you reported.

Nope I can't see them at all. It looks like it's just Moderators that can view it perhaps?

This is a really sensitive topic please try to refrain from personal character remarks. If you believe ap oster to be dishonest then report them. Don't accuse them in thread of foul tactics.

Do you not think that having a report that is of content context similar to Facebook would be a smidge better? For example, I report your post, a mod reviews it, I automatically get an update of the mods action regarding what happened to the reported post, because it isn't done here. At least not to my knowledge. Could you perhaps see the value in maybe not having everyones infractions on display, but a better reporting system?

Post away Terry, that particular thread is in some dire need of pro-lifers who can actually hold a reasonable and intelligent discussion. Instead it's been trolled and flamed constantly, I don't agree that people with pro-life opinions are sociopaths whatsoever (I'm pro-life but I'm voting to repeal for my own reasons listed in the thread) and not a single soul from the folk voting to save the 8th (bar one person in particular) actually contributed anything other than drivel, it was mainly trolling, soapboxing, flaming and just plain stupidity.

I don't think it's a case of unfair moderation, sure I was banned for calling someone a prick after they completely disregarded how I lost some of my children just so they could push their own agenda so the mods aren't just banning pro-lifers from the thread. I can't reply to whatever you post in that particular thread but I can and will view it as I'd like to see what you've got to say.

    Thank you.

Again, if it was automated then maybe but any addition to workload for mods would be a straight up no for me.

While reports are very much appreciated by mods I don't think the reporter should feel entitled to a response. Report it and forget about it. If the mods feel it warrants action they'll sort it out. That's my thinking on it at least.

Report it and let the mods deal with it. You report it because you feel it breaches the charter. If you want cleaner forums keep reporting

I had an automated report system running on a previous vbulletin forum I used to moderate, would you know who I could chat to about having a look at the current system? If it's automated the process could be this -

Post reported - report sent to mod - mod clicks "review post", they're brought to a screen where they can review (yellow, red, ban, mod note, take no action), they select the appropriate response for their decision and input a comment which in turn notifies the reporter.

Here I suppose but I can't see it being implemented. There seems to be only one or two dev and they're tied up with a list the length of your arm i'd imagine. No harm in trying though

There is a Site Development section on boards.

What you are proposing is a change to the existing workflow and would defo require development effort.
Also, mod decisions are not solely made from reported posts so there would need to be a use case for this also.

Before I was modded I reported posts and had no issue with not getting a response. If I felt it wasn't actioned and should have been I'd report it again. After that I was done, if something happened or not I was leaving it to the mods.

There is excessive use of the report function. There's a world of difference between reporting a post and then reporting again say 24 hours later, and reporting a post 4 or 5 times or reporting 10 innocuous posts in a row because you got a slap on the wrist. I don't know the circumstances of which you were "given out to", and I don't know if it was warranted or not, but it's not something I've seen first hand without good reason.

Thanks for the Site Development links lads, I'll look into it and see if I can grab a hold of one of the devs and come up with a reasonable solution and include the knowledge that all mod decisions aren't just derived from reported posts.

Can any of you tell me what happens what you see when someone reports a post? Do you get a notification, a link to the post or what's the dealio? If you can't share in thread please feel free to PM me, if automating some of it would make moderation easier by all means I'd like to help out.

Will let admin share. Not a mod anymore so best if they advise if they wish
