Rain will turn to snow as it moves in to Leinster, Connaught and south Ulster Thursday evening. 1 - 3 cm on low ground before thaw. Snow turns to rain after midnight and things get a little unpleasant but enjoy it while it lasts:)

The snow in Scotland and the North of England is really heavy - maybe we were supposed to get some of that - I can see why ME were hedging their bets.

Even Evelyn sounded uncomfortable on the news bulletins yesterday in the radio discussing the warnings and just passed it off as normal December / winter weather.
