Quick update. I have tried configuring GetFlix a couple of times and no joy. It is working no problem on my ipad but not on Shield.

Thanks a million Squaredude! I feel stupid now as I completely forgot that I had to go onto the web link to sort out the folders! It seems to be all working now. VERY HAPPY! Thanks again to everyone for their help.

Ok received mine and playing around with it this morning. One thing I am trying to get use to is the remote. So use to click and point and also installed the Android TV app on my phone so will try that. I have a Minix A2 lite and using this in conjunction with the remote. Also trying a few launchers what is the best one for just having wallpaper in the background and apps at the bottom so that I can add my own wallpaper and apps not taking up the full screen?
Also best one for getting into settings?
Tried Hal and TV launcher but just looking for something minimal and easy to scroll around. Coming from Nova Launcher on Android box so still getting use to it.
Side loader tried ok and also loaded Aptoide. Tried loading Yalp but could not get it to work, Any others?
Loaded up Chrome no problem for downloading apps and also Gmail in case I have to reset passwords etc.
Not rooted it and some apps have adds so installed blockada.

Synced the harmony remote and set up some activities. Tried to link Alexa skill but seems only available in the US??
Would like to link it so that I can pause films as still trying to figure out how to pause fast fwd etc on the NVIDIA remote. Also would like to see if I can launch apps like Kodi and others. Don't have Prime or Netflix as use other sources.

Changed the MAC address in StbEmu to previous to work with IPTV so no issues there.

Googling for tips etc and only beginning to find out what else it can do.

If anyone has any other tips esp re Launchers let me know. I can see over in Xda you can add any launcher but need to hook it to a pc and don't want to mess around with that yet.

You need to forget everything you know about generic Android boxes running a hacked version of touchscreen Android. This is a whole different experience.

Everyone uses the stock leanback launcher. This is Android TV, it's designed for use with a D-pad on a large wide-screen TV. You can get apps to add custom channels if you need to

My GetFlix Saga continues. Just got a message on Netflix that i am using a proxy. So not going well. Any ideas on this?

Have you disabled ipv6 on the shield and turned off location services ?

It might also be that you have to enable static routes on the routine block google and some other public dns (had to do that with a fritz!box). This is a pain as if you are using google dns for anything else it scuppers it.

Sorry if this has been bought up before but has ITV hub been removed from the shield?

I have location services turned off and BBC iPlayer shows up on the main screen.

Reading the GetFlix support site and they are talking about the Static Routes. Not sure if i am bothered to be honest.

It's not a wise idea to change to an untrusted DNS for all devices, you could leave yourself open to DNS poisoning, man in the middle and phishing attacks. I certainly wouldn't trust any of these smart DNS services for my general devices where I do private stuff, fine for a single media player, TV etc

Because ISPs are trying to move everyone to IPV6 because there are no more IPV4 addresses left. They'll move you if you request it, to most it's not an issue.

Could probably put Getflix dns on your router and set your other device/computer dns manually to google dns or your isps, right?

I have been at this for hours now. Working perfectly on iPad but refuses to work on Shield.

I have DNS set on the router, I have static routes set on Router. I have IP6 turned off, location services turned off.

BBC and ITV are working but Netflix is giving me the “You are using a Proxy” error. My head is melted.

Mine is in the box ready to go back. A lot of other things started acting up so the upshot is simple. It does not offer more than what i already have with chromecast/phone and mini pc. So it's going back. Life is too short to worry about this ****. I can see how people rave about the device but I already have an existing system that does all and doesn't cost another couple of hundred(ish).

I’ll be honest with you, I have a shield for over a year and it is amazing. Kodi, Plex and games all work great. The UI is fast and smooth. Using GeForce Now I played The Witcher 3 for 80 hours and it was great. I can’t fault the Shield for just using it out of the box.
The pain I am having with getting GetFlix up and running if of my own making. I really don’t need American Netflix or BBC catchup. But, because I have put so long into getting it working I feel like a failure. I could un-do all of the settings I have changed and no-one in my household will care.

Really liking the Shield so far. However, Google Home doesn't seem to work for opening Kodi. Nor does it open Netflix, says it's not supported

Was going to purchase Getflix but find it runs very slow on my laptop, Netflix icons take ages to load, so that puts an end to my plans of adding bbc iplayer. However, Kodi is running very fast on it, excellent bit of kit. Just need to see if my mele remote will work with it now.

It doesn't work that way to open apps unless you use Google assistant on the Shield itself. You can cast to the Shield from a Google Home

Hmm interesting, it opens Youtube for me. Its not a major issue anyway, it turns the shield on/off for me which is the main thing.

Hi all,

I have Plex server running fine on my Shield but can't use Plex client to watch content as for some reason the interface randomly starts to fast forward and no matter what remote (controller or remote) is used it constantly jumps forward to the point where it ends the movie. We might be 5-6 minutes into watching something with the two remotes on a coffee table and it will suddenly start fast forwarding. If we try to stop the fast forward and rewind as soon as we have it back to the point we were watching it'll either start fast forwarding again immediately or randomly some time later.

I tried disconnecting / powering off both remotes separately to identify if the issue was with one of them but to no avail. I even removed both remotes entirely (battery removed from the remote and battery dead on the controller) and just used the Android Remote app and the same problem occurs but only on Plex.

My temp workaround it to start a movie via Plex on a PC and then cast it to the Shield but that's not much of a solution so I'm thinking of installing Kodi and using it as a client to watch content on the Shield but keep Plex server running so other devices can be used by family members. Is Kodi the way to go? Has anyone used https://mrmc.tv which seems to have a Plex plugin?
