False. Switzerland uses the Swiss Franc.
A superior currency to the made up wishy washy euro.

Well it was actually €29.75 with a €2 administration fee

The irish/leinster vote going to be badly split on this one. Will end up shooting ourselves in the foot!

This is the only way Isa can be rewarded for how he's played for and led Leinster.

If this is his final season, there's no better way to mark it. The campaign starts here.

    Vote here.

I'd be surprised if he didn't go for another one - perhaps more as a stand-in 12 than wing/fb.

He could, and should, also be awarded the freedom of Dublin. Not sure how we get that campaign going though. He's a bona fide legend.

Edit: the Lord Mayor would have to nominate him.

Can't take that for granted though. We've really no idea what effort he has to go through to get to the level he needs every week and whether he can keep that up for another year.

    Vote early and often. :)

Still my favourite moment from him... Remember being pretty much on the sideline for that, right on the 5m line, and seeing it all unfold infront of me. I was sitting beside a Leicester fan who just turned to me and said 'You'll go on and win this if he plays in the final for you.'

He's undoubtedly the best ever signing, and only the second to BOD in a Leinster jersey... Altho BOD would have it the other way around.

Still, don't think this will be his swan song. I think he's defo got another season left in him, as a break incase of emergency player that can help in training and off the pitch support, ala Jennings/Cullen etc.

It would be today. Think that's Locky tho?

It was McLaughlin, he did it at virtually every defensive lineout in the game. Would be a penalty against these days for sure.

was that not an offense then too? you're right, it was McLaughlin

I'm sure it was, but it wasn't as heavily imposed as it is now. Like many laws in rugby, a lot are ignored by refs to ensure the game isn't stopped at every oppertunity.

Once a few jumpers landed awkwardly it looked like pulling in the air could result in series head trauma there seemed to be a conscience change to how contact in the air was interpreted.

I remember how much was made out of it at the time, Locky was hailed as a hero of the dark arts in the lineout, nobody even considered it a penalty, just good gamesmanship, but when I saw the reply just there I was like 'that's a penalty'.

It's funny how little things change in terms of interpretations, flavour of the month etc. when it comings to officiating.

I remember that lineout steal being highlighted on the TV coverage at the time as Leinster getting a slice of luck (which is what we call it when a refereeing error goes in our favour), so it was definitely an offence then, just missed by the officials.

Generally I find you'll get away with using your inside arm to attack the other jumper's inside arm. It's only when you reach further that I find most refs will want to get involved.

Too true, I was watching a few clips of Isa today and this one of him getting hit with a no arm tackle came up and it seemed strange how the referee had a quick work with the touch judge and came to a decision without going to the TMO

I remember that very differently. I recall quite a big deal being made out of how it should have been penalised but he got away with it well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Ah, people definitely considered it a penalty at the time but they often aren't awarded. I'd compare something like that to holding someone in at a ruck in terms of its frequency. It wasn't blatant, just a subtle tug on the arm which was enough to force Deacon to spill the ball without ever impacting on his trajectory or threatening his landing.

The issue is that McLaughlin did it two or three times in the game to great effect and Sky zoned in on it. They could do the same in plenty of games. Leicester should have been shouting about it from the rooftops.

That's a pity. I liked that even international commentators kept referring to him as a 'Leinster academy' player. Just made it sound all the more impressive as he tore the shíte out of opposition.

    He'll probably be crap now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

They need to get rid of Larmour. Just relying on their old faithful "experienced" players again. Only an absolute bleedin idiot wouldn't pick Tommy O'Brien on the wing ahead of him.

Yes, and Paddy Butler down in Munster.

Usually it's down to the province being worried by other offers when that sort of thing happens I think.

In Luke's case it was an offer from Munster.

Adam Byrne had a *very* short stint in the academy before being bumped to a senior deal, if he was even in the academy when he signed??

Nope, Adam Byrne was in academy for 3 years.

I think what you mean is Byrne was barely in the academy before his first senior cap against Ulster

Hope Adam Byrne gets to have a proper second half of the season. He's been unlucky with injuries but the game against Argentina showed an evolution in his game that many had been hoping to see.

A back three of Larmour, Lowe and Byrne is some arsenal. I still think Byrne is our best player going forward under the high ball albeit Barry Daly offers a lot here also. But having the ability to beat defenders like Larmour, go through or around them and offload like Lowe and the aerial superiority of Byrne and we really do have options in how we break down teams using our backs.

I heard that Ringrose is making good progress, would love to see Aki, Ringrose before the end of the six nations if possible. Henshaw is playing the best of any of the centre options in Ireland by a margin, but I think Aki and Ringrose would make for hugely entertaining rugby.

I think there's many ways it could go. Daly/Larmour/Lowe is equally exciting to me.

It might not matter because most teams will probably just concede walkovers against us when they see the tall messiah in his prime.

Andrew Porter is rotund messiah but at the moment we’re limited to 3 so he’ll have to kill one of the others.

Anyone see the interview with Stephen Ferris in the examiner where he said it was entirely plausible that Ireland's starting 15 could all come from Leinster

Haven't seen it. But very conceivable.

    Healy Cronin Furlong
    Toner Ryan
    Leavy Conan VDF
    McGrath Sexton
    Henshaw Ringrose (?)
    Larmour Kearney Byrne (?)

Practically it could happen. But realistically not. I don't think people could have much complaints if there were 12 or so Leinster players

    I read it wrong, sorry.

He actually said it would be very hard not to pick 15 Leinster players not start 15

    That makes more sense.

    Healy McGrath Cronin Furlong
    Toner Ryan
    VDF Leavy Conan Murphy
    McGrath Sexton Carbery
    Henshaw
    Kearney

There's 15 players who no one could begrudge in the match day squad this 6N. Some will begrudge it obviously. But it would be unfounded.

Doesn't include the fringe or injured either such as Porter, Larmour, Ringrose, SOB and Heaslip
