Stayed 2 weeks in Excalibur in December and staying again this trip. Completely fine hotel. Decent room size. Upgrades for a strip view (if you care for that) are cheap

Don't forget to slip the hotel receptionist a note, you may get a room upgrade. All you can do is ask. I've been successful twice
Worked both times for me when checking in the showed me a leaflet with diffrent room upgrades i paid my resort fee then put 50 dollers aside and got two of the rooms upgraded.

How do you handle this exactly? Do you say anything or just slip them $20 / $50?

I'm sure people do it all the time but I think I'd look/ feel so awkward.

Just stick at least $20 between your passport and credit card and just ask, I wonder is there any upgrades available? He or she will put the money aside, and check for you. They might keep the money and just say thanks but it's Vegas it's a gamble. You won't look stupid don't worry.

I felt awkward doing the $20 trick too, felt like I was offering a bribe, which technically I suppose I was.

Instead I asked nicely, (helped that my father in law was with us and it was his 60th birthday) and when she girl obliged by upgrading both rooms and waiving the early check in, she got $40 as a tip rather than a bribe!

Usually small enough crowd let in, I couldn't get into 189 open workouts however usually without Conor on card you can easily get in. If you want to go I would be there early whereever it is.

Hoping to get to UFC 230 in MSG in November. I think tickets are out next week.

    Anybody remember the price brackets?
Probably like $150-$350 for the budget tiers right?

    Edit: I believe UFC 205 tickets were priced at $1,500, $1,000, $800, $600, $450, $250 and $100.

Not sure if you've tried the following but this worked for me - all of this is on the assumption you've an android phone. If not then I'm not sure

1.) Google "flashseats apk" this let's you download the app from outside the app store

2.) sign up using the email address you used to buy the tickets. When prompted for an American address enter your hotels address

3.) when you've an account set up, tweet flashseats and explain you're in Ireland and looking to get your seats added. They'll ask you to DM them, send them your email address, order number and last 4 digits of the card used

    Best of luck

Also hoping to grab tickets to this if pricing is similar will probably aim for the $450-$600 brackets, wonder will they be hard to get

I was thinking earlier for the people who haven't been before for some tips on where to go for cheap booze because you can get fleeced in some places on the strip like I did the first time.

Cheapest - grab a can or aluminum bottle from a supermarket or from a street vendor and stroll around. You can also buy a plastic yard flask which you can fill with frozen cocktails in loads of spots around the strip.

O Sheas in the lynx resort, cool Irish bar with beer pong, about 20$ for a pitcher of beer, with beer bottle specials aswell of american stuff for about $2.

Ellis island behind Bally's is like old Vegas. Micro brewery with pints for like a dollar or 2. Karaoke and good priced food too.

Casion Royale have $1 bottles of Michelob and bud.

Go to freemont too which is old Vegas off the strip. Loads of drink specials and I really enjoy their casinos more. I remember getting a $5 jd and Coke on the street there and the bartender literally put a 1/4 bottle of jd in it.

If your planning on gambling yes you will get free drink providing you tip, but it's not a great strategy if you are just wanting to drink.

Maybe others have some tips. Swimming pool bars especially pool parties are a rip off for drinks, clubs very expensive too.

The measuents of alcohol in freemount street are crazy i couldnt evan finish one it was that strong as for the pool partys i was in mandalay bay for a pool party two buckets of bud lime and a vodka redbull in a flask was 210 dollers. The CVS supermarkets are great tho for your cheap drinks looking forward to tasting the budweiser pinapple again in two weeks time.

5 o'clock somewhere bar in the Flamingo Hotel do 5cent a beer(250ml) between 5-6pm each day as well.I wouldnt buy beers out of the hotel gift shops, about $8 a can but cvs and walgreens are all along the strip to grab a couple cans or bottles and you can bring them into a casino with you.
On casino royale they do single hand black jack for 5 or 10 dollar a hand and floor staff are very frequent with drinks if betting.
If looking for a quick bite to eat, in and out burger on the linq promenade is lovely for a fast food joint.

Cheers for that lad. My fourth trip and most of this was news to me! I've never made it to freemont so that's definitely on the list this time around.

Anyone have any more recommendations for food? Gordon Ramseys burger restaurant has been visited on all of my trips and will be again. Delicious. I do find myself getting lazy with eating over there and just settling for the food court in mgm and I'm always regretful when I get home that I didn't cast my net a bit further

Wolfgang pucks in mgm is lovely.

Also 4th time and have freemont down for first night.

Haha that reminds me of a funny story from 189.

We were floating around the mgm on (I think) the Thursday and bumped into Gamebred Masvidal. We stopped him and asked for a pic and he seemed a bit surprised, I don't think he had been recognised much by the Irish fans. He was very cool and we were talking to him about recently moving to 170, he was fighting the night after 189 at the tuf finale. We were a bit surprised how sound he was, cos he has a bit of a reputation.

Anyways fast forward a few hours and we were sitting in the aforementioned Wolfgang puck and in walks Gamebred with a few of his mates and they got sat at the table next to us. He recognised us straight away and said something like "my Irish dudes! ", and was very friendly again. We didn't really bother him anymore.

His pals ordered food but he didn't get anything. They got a plate of nachos or something and he started nibbling on them and before you know it he pretty much polished off the whole lot. We were thinking, jaysus he's moved upto 170 but he's eating like a machine.

Fast forward to the weigh in two days later and he missed weight! I remember DC did the weigh in commentary and was shocked that he missed weight, we weren't as surprised :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,663 ✭✭✭JoeyJJ

Yeah seen him too. I played poker with Bruce buffer. Met so many fighters that weekend. Cowboy, DC, Picket, whothe**** is that guy post fight smashed up in lifts, Bj, frankie, petis, carpenter oh and some hv weight fighter cant remember now was in poker room all day.
