We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.

Often attributed to Aristotle but a bit of a Google suggests that's not true. Decent quote all the same.

We are all alone, born alone, die alone, and we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. Not lonely—at least, not all the time—but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.

    Hunter S. Thompson

You had an arse full of farts that night, darling, and I fúcked them out of you, big fat fellows, long windy ones, quick little merry cracks and a lot of tiny little naughty farties ending in a long gush from your hole. It is wonderful to fúck a farting woman when every fúck drives one out of her.

We succeeded in taking that picture, and, if you look at it, you see a dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there – on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light.
[...] To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known

' If you want to get into it you've got to get out of it.' Hawkwind - Choose Your Masques 1982 it is either the end of side 1 or side 2 where this is repeated in the outro groove. :)

Another quote that stood out for me when I was a young fellah, I had this hair brain idea of documenting and photographing all the megalithic tombs dotted around North West Ireland. I had my mother driving me about looking for these structures, we were in Tullaghan in Leitrim looking for dolmens around the Leitrim coast and I remember walking up to this wiry old fellah and asking about the Dolmens, I said they were apparently dated from 3,000 BC to which he replied ' Aaah but does paper refuse ink?'

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)
