Just got the email. A fiver a month on top of full price is too much. Will talk to Vodafone about a deal given my mobile is with them

What package where you on? Is everyone getting the increase or just select packages, anyone know?

Just rang to cancel and got 6 months half price (bb and tv). Was told about the pending changes and quoted the new contract price.

240mb with the middle TV package. Over €80 a month now. I'm sick of the annual fight with them tbh

Can I ask what price is that?

240mb, tv max and phone. Currently €88 going to €94 in January. So €47 for 6 months and €94 for 6 months. Reminder set to do this dance again next year.

I think the summer is the best to have your contract rolling thought as full year discounts were available IIRC.

Does anyone know what the cheapest Sky's TV and broadband deal is? Currently with Virgin paying 50 a month for BB, but sick of this yearly price increase. The sales guy in Virgin yesterday told me was I really worth the hassle of leaving for €2 a week savings etc etc...

Virgin is pretty much the only good broadband provider I can get in my flat. Don't think the OH would be happy downgrading from our 240mb to 100mb either. Would be happy if we could switch to the broadband only plan and keep paying our current €55 pm because we don't use the home phone part of our current bundle, but I don't want to sign a new contract with them as we'll likely be moving abroad sometime next year...not sure if I can negotiate with them! :(

Just off the phone to them there. Got 15 off for  6 months. I'm on BB and Phone so wasn't going to get much more  off.

Didn't realise there's a 240MB Broadband only option for €54, I always thought you had to get a phone with it for some reason but that package costs €59, €5 better off in my pocket than pay for something I don't use.

It's relatively new, think they introduced it early in the summer. I asked if I could downgrade my contract that I started in April to it and they said no, maybe I can negotiate it now though.

Does anyone know if you intend to move within 12 months (but stick with the same provider in new home) whether that's counted as breaking the contract or whether there's any fee / penalty to pay?

It's quite possible I could be moving within 12 months but don't want to snooker myself in to a 12 month contract if they'll hit me with a disconnection / re-connection fee or something.

Are you out of contract with them? Would they not let you just go with the Naked Broadband option?

Was just out of contract on the 240 anytime broadband/tv/phone package going from €80 to €85pm, initially they offered me €15 off 3 months, then €15 off 6 months, eventually after some persuasion their "supervisor" gave permission to offer me 50% off 6 months if I kept the same package so same deal as I got last year plus the price increase.

Used the online chat function to get it all sorted and they were quite pleasant :-)

Yep, starting next billing period I was told the new discount will kick in. Was almost taking the 59pm broadband/phone so ended up getting keeping the tv for €57 for the year..

    Wow lucky you!
The best they will definitely offer me at the minute is
€47 per month for first 6 months and €94 per month for last 6 months.

Best I could get on BB/TV/Phone was half price for 3 months and full price for 9 months. So told them to go ahead and cancel thinking they would come back with something better. Took my cancellation over the phone and said my services would cease in 30 days time and I have gotten an email confirming this. Has anyone been in a similar situation before where Virgin have then come back with a better offer before the cancellation kicks in. Im wondering whether to contact them and accept their original offer prior to cancellation. Any ideas ??

To be honest I also don't understand how some people seem to get 6-9months half price year after year after year.

I 'negotiated' 6 month half price once a few years ago but after the call that seemed to go on forever I felt like I had to sell my soul to get that.

If someone here who constantly gets those 6-9months half price (broadband only) would be nice to give me some pointers :)

I always quote competitor prices etc but never seem to get very far.

P.S. Thanks for pointing out the deal for BB without phone. Never use the phone and was total waste of money for me but no other choice unil recently.

Do any of the companies bundle bb/landline/mobiles and tv?

havent read through all the threads, but I heard a friend on the phone to virgin before, called out of the blue, he agreed to some sort of deal and hung up delighted with himself getting this out of the blue offer. I told him to check online what a new customer would get, and if his contract time was up. It was up so I told him he could have cancelled and had his wife sign up as a new customer. Sure enough if he had cancelled he would have got a much better deal if the wife signed up as new.

I think their trick was that they knew he was out of contract and at risk, so offer him this supposed great deal which I guess would have effectively made a new contract, which they probably mentioned but just gloss over like its no big deal.

He was furious but did not want to cancel and potentially be without tv for any time (has kids), so I said just ring and blatantly say what he plans to do i.e. threaten to cancel, get them to collect box or bin it, get wife to sign up, get them to send brand new box, get better discount. So in the end they caved and gave the new customer discounts, with no disruption.

I only stick with them as I get analogue tv on the same line, many seem unaware they get this, some places do not get it. I just get BB, a slower & cheaper speed than is available as a new customer so I have not cancelled.

Be careful if you do cancel .I got offered €15 off on Friday so told them I’d cancel and gave 30days notice.Checked that it was done this evening to be told no only €15 discount was showing . Chancers

You ring up and say you can get sky or eir for half the price as a new customer.

Tell them to match the saving I need 9 months half price or 40% off for 12 months.

Don't let them talk at all. If they try cut in cut them off with look mate we do this this bollocks every year your giving customers 9 months half price and I will take the same.

If you keep the pressure on without letting them talk the get fed up and cave.

    Don't even mention cancelling.
