I’ve told this story before but as it’s relevant.....

I was once at lunch with the MD of a prominent Dubalin Advertising Agency. He was telling me about a pitch his Agency were involved with for a semi-state; and went on to explain what this meant for the Agency, and the process itself amongst other things. The most difficult part he explained was pricing to secure the work - and not the creative idea itself. He elaborated further that semi-states wanted to feel assured they had hired the best Agency possible for the work, and their criteria for this was not the work itself, but how much it cost. As a result every Agency involved simply pulled ridiculous figures out of their asses and priced the work through the roof at significant mark ups from their normal rates.

You’d laugh if it wasn’t so serious.
