The footballers just are a pity. Losing to a team that were division 4 not so long ago. Lads Cork football is in serious trouble. One step forward and three steps back every year. Where is this 5 year plan that Counihan Tracy Murphy and Canty were promoting to get Cork football up and running a few years ago? That really worked well it seems.

Cork are giving the game to Clare with all the frees

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,758 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Yet to even score yet in 2nd half but Clare have pushed a 1 point lead out to 5.

Really slow starts in games in halves. Still a huge problem

gone 10 mins now without scoring. Robbie O'flynn misses an easy chance. Gap out to 6.

    Pathetic stuff this half

We can forget about winning anything this year. Not good enough.

How many high tackles have Clare had? Seems to be about 5 or 6

Our intensity is way off. With the wind but it has been dreadful. We haven't used it at all. We keep trying to work it in.

    Truly awful display.

The ref is awful as well.

Awful result for the footballers. Hurlers were carrying a few non scoring forwards, which we can't afford. We lost a few balls and gave away scores and frees with over handpassing, especially in the second half when we had the wind. Huge game now v Kilkenny, a must win.

Subs made a huge difference. I was saying the intensity wasn't there the whole day and then Barrett etc came on and upped everything. Suddenly Kingston was looking very lively. Happy with the play after the 60th minute. Things really started moving but we had given them too much of a lead.

Cannot go almost 15 mins without scoring at the start of the 2nd half. Ref was very poor too which doesn't help matters though the result wasn't his fault. Important to put it in that he was a factor though.

I hope this game will have got the rustiness out as we looked very poor early on. Touch and shots were all wayward. Near the end we were beginning to get rolling so I hope to see that the next day from the start.

Clare in Ennis was always going to be a tough one. I'm a bit more concerned about the footballers. It looks like it's going to be another year in division 2! We better pick up some wins or the Tailtean cup beckons!

Either beat Kerry and get into the Munster final, or finish top four in the league i think.

it should be taken with a pinch of salt , even the clare line up is miles away from what would be starting in may , i am more annoyed that we didnt give more game time to a few more fringe players

on the game itself , kingston and hoggy had fine games , some of the younger lads struggled , but given that this is corks 2nd game of the year it has to be expected,

Cork have a massive uphill struggle now with the footballers. We have Cavan Kildare and Armagh to play yet.

Ladies footballers down 7-3 at halftime. Started well enough but Kerry finished the half on top, pushed up on our kickouts and we've struggled to get out of our half at times

We played quite well up to their '40 but then it collapsed again and again. Bad passes, wrong decisions etc but it is clear as day that we have No Scoring forwards. Quirke got All our scores in Bishopstown the last day and got nearly all the scores today. Until that is addressed, we won't be competitive.

With the whole changes to the team, the ladies will be having a tough year. The only hope is maybe it will bring on a few players for next year.

Katie Quirke getting 6 of Corks 7 scores. Not good to be relying on one player.

I know everything is awful when the Team is losing but I heard at start of year that all was not well with some players in Cork panel and it looks like that might have legs.

Apparently, some didn't want to go up to Donegal as was too far. Big question mark about the attitude of some of those players and some senior lads have gotten annoyed.

Well if that story is true then some of those players have no business being on a Cork panel. There's plenty of enough lads around the county, who'd love to be travelling with a Cork senior football team to Donegal. Let the likes of them go back home to their mammies ffs! Hopefully that story is bs though.

    Got it from players father.

To be fair he never said anything negative in past hence surprised he said it.

Hopefully they will or have it sorted

    Team for Kilkenny

Robert and Eoin Downey brought in with Tim O'Mahony in defence. Conor O’Callaghan and Luke Meade in as well. Ciarán Joyce, Cormac O’Brien and Brian Hayes rested as they all played in Fitzgibbon cup.

What the hell is Ryan doing with the team selection? If we can't play some of the younger lads now in the league, they might as well not bother with the panel come championship. Number 10, 11, 14 and 15 positions, have we any other options in these positions that we can try? We can't play Horgan Lehane and Kingston forever. We are going nowhere with this team I hate to say it. We can forget about any silverware imo picking a forward line like that. They won't be able to walk come championship.

I think the idea is that the others played fitz and last week so rested this week. Downeys played Fitz I think but didn't play last week so give them a run this week.

Last year Cork experimented the most in the hurling league (along with Limerick) with 38 players being used. More Cork players than any other team (35) started at least one game. Feels like this year Ryan is going to experiment less. I think he really wants a strong league so looking to get a result against Kilkenny.

Its all opinions as I read an article saying Collins played well against Clare but I would have liked to see Saunderson given a run. Others here gave out about him too. But we will see. I am hoping that the Clare game was just an off day. A lot of talk about Clare but Cork didn't score for almost 20 mins and still only lost by 3 points. If we get everything to click, it may go well but I really want a performance on saturday. We have to start showing what we can do rather than misfires and excuses.

A bit off topic but Ben O'Connor was man of the match for the Ireland Rugby U20s tonight in Cork. Scraped a win but he was immense scoring a good try.

I'd love to see him in a Cork Jersey again someday but great to see him doing well in Rugby

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,905 ✭✭✭Seadin

He was unbelievable. What a physical presence he is too. Greatly missed by Cork hurling but delighted to see him doing brilliantly with the Irish u20 rugby team.

Without tempting fate, I think he's going to have a massive future in the game. Has every attribute needed.
